Abstract

Matematika merupakan ilmu eksak yang memiliki ciri khas tersendiri yang objeknya bersifat abstrak, yang berguna dan penting untuk mengasah berpikir terstruktur, logis, dan sistematis. Namun, matematika dipandang oleh sebagian orang khususnya siswa sebagai ilmu yang tidak mudah dipelajari. Dengan demikian, perlu ada seseorang yang membuatnya menjadi mudah dipelajari, dalam hal ini yaitu guru. Guru sebagai pendidik dituntut untuk lebih kreatif dalam mengembangkan pembelajaran yang dapat memfasilitasi siswa agar mendapat pengalaman belajar yang optimal. Tidak hanya dari segi metode, pendekatan, maupun bahan ajar, tapi juga perlu memerhatikan lingkungan belajar yang mendukung proses pembelajaran. Salah satu framework yang menawarkan pembelajaran yang memerhatikan lingkungan belajar yang mendukung adalah Productive Pedagogies Framework. Peneliti mencoba mengimplementasikan pembelajaran matematika dengan menggunakan dimensi Supportive Classroom Environment dari Productive Pedagogies Framework yang dilaksanakan di kelas VII pada salah satu SMP Negeri di Kota Bandung. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji implementasi, kendala dan upaya menanggulangi kendala, serta respons siswa terhadap pembelajaran yang menggunakan dimensi Supportive Classroom Environment dari Productive Pedagogies Framework. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif yang bertujuan untuk mencari informasi faktual yang mendetail untuk mendeskripsikan fenomena yang terjadi. Temuan penelitian menyatakan bahwa guru perlu waktu untuk mengenal siswa lebih dekat demi optimalnya pengimplementasian dimensi ini. Adapun kendala yang ditemukan salah satunya berupa kemampuan guru dan siswa yang memerlukan waktu pertemuan lebih banyak. Salah satu upaya alternatif untuk menangani kendala tersebut yaitu melakukan implementasi dimensi ini secara konsisten, guru wajib memiliki sifat yang ramah, tidak mudah marah, serta memiliki semangat yang tinggi dalam mengajar. Meskipun demikian, pembelajaran matematika dengan menggunakan dimensi Supportive Classroom Environment dari Productive Pedagogies Framework ini ternyata mendapat respons positif dari siswa.;---Mathematics is an exact science that has its own characteristics whose objects are abstract in nature, which is useful and important for honing structured, logical and systematic thinking. However, mathematics is seen by some people, especially students as a science that is not easy to learn. Thus, they need someone who makes it easy to learn, in this case he is the teacher. Teachers as educators are required to be more creative in developing learning that can facilitate students to get an optimal learning experience. Not only in terms of methods, approaches, and teaching materials, but also need to pay attention to the learning environment that supports the learning process. One framework that offers learning that cares for a supportive learning environment is Productive Pedagogies Framework. The researcher tried to implement mathematics learning by using the dimensions of Supportive Classroom Environment from the Productive Pedagogies Framework implemented in class VII in one of the Public Middle Schools in the City of Bandung. This study aims to examine the implementation, constraints and efforts to overcome obstacles, and student responses to learning that use the dimensions of Supportive Classroom Environment from Productive Pedagogies Framework. The research design used is descriptive qualitative which aims to find detailed factual information to describe the phenomenon that occurs. The research findings state that teachers need time to get to know students more closely for optimal implementation of this dimension. The constraints found were one in the form of the ability of teachers and students who needed more meeting time. One alternative effort to deal with these constraints is to implement this dimension consistently, teachers must have a friendly attitude, not be easily angry, and have high enthusiasm in teaching. However, learning mathematics using the Supportive Classroom Environment dimension from the Productive Pedagogies Framework has received positive responses from students.
