Abstract
The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of tactical and direct learning model of instruction at the junior high school students to increase cognitive abilities and playing skill in the basketball game. The method used is an experimental method. The design used in this research is Randomize pretest-posttest control group design. In this design, the experimental group was given treatment in the form of a Tactical learning model, while the control group was given treatment in the form of direct learning instruction. The research sample of 60 students taken by simple random sampling in class VIII SMPN 1 Koba Kabupaten Bangka Tengah. The study was conducted three times a week for approximately two months. The instrument used to measure cognitive ability, is the test of objectivity to the shape of right wrong and GPAI that have been tested for validity and reliability. The data was processed with MS Excel 2007 software and statistical calculations in testing hypotheses using SPSS 22 through t-test Independent Samples Test. The results showed that; 1). There is a significant positive effect on the learning model tactical increase cognitive abilities and skills of students playing basketball; 2). There is a significant positive effect of direct learning model of instruction to increase cognitive abilities and skills of students playing basketball; 3). No difference significant positive effect on improving cognitive abilities of students who use the tactical learning model that uses direct learning model of instruction; 4). There are differences significant positive effect upgrading playing basketball skills of students who use the tactical learning model that uses direct learning model of instruction. The tactical learning model is highly recommended in the learning process, especially in sports games by attending the learning mechanism and organizing the class in order to obtain to the maximum learning outcome.
