Abstract
Poster merupakan salah satu media penyampai informasi yang dikemas dengan desain yang menarik. Mengingat pentingnya keterampilan dalam mendesain, beberapa pendidikan formal pun mulai memasukkan desain poster sebagai salah satu pelajaran yang diwajibkan. Setelah melakukan observasi pada tanggal 16 Maret 2016, penulis merumuskan masalah mengenai kajian visual desain poster yang terdiri dari tipografi, ilustrasi, dan layout karya siswa SMK Negeri 14 Bandung sebagai sekolah pertama di Jawa Barat yang mengambil bidang kesenirupaan. Penulis menggunakan metode deskriptif analisis, menggunakan 7 sampel, dengan menggunakan teori tipografi, ilustrasi dan layout dari Rustan, Kusrianto, dan Toekio yang telah membahas mengenai poster. Pada umumnya poster memiliki 3 elemen, yaitu tipografi, ilustrasi, dan tata letak atau layout, dan anatomi poster secara umum terdiri dari judul, subjudul, deck, bodytext, dan mandatories atau signature. Hasil dari penelitian ini sebagai berikut: ada 7 jenis huruf yaitu , 2 jenis gaya ilustrasi yaitu realistis dan kartunis, penggunaan 6 sistem kolom dan 1 group model layout, dan 2 jenis layout yaitu picture window layout dan mondrian layout, dan menggunakan 6 pengaturan modular grid, dan 1 hierarchical grid yang digunakan siswa dalam pembuatan poster. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi tolak ukur dan pemacu lahirnya penelitian-penelitian selanjutnya mengenai desain poster siswa. Selain itu, diharapkan sistem pengajaran mengenai desain poster untuk selalu dikembangkan. --- Poster is one of the information media which is packaged with an attractive design. Because of the importance of design skill, some formal educations began to include poster design as one of their compulsory subjects. After conducting an observation on March, 16, 2016, the author formulated some problems about the study of students’ poster visual design consisting of thypograpy, illustration, and layout in SMK Negeri 14 Bandung as the first school in West Java which took the visual art as the school program. The author used analysis descriptive method, employed 7 samples, and used the theory of thypography, illustration, and layout from Kusrianto, Rustan, and Toekio which has been discussed about Poster. Generally, a poster has three elements, namely typography, illustration and layout. Meanwhile, the anatomy of poster usually consists of a title, subtitle, decks, Body Text, and mandatories or signature. The results of this study are as follow; there are seven types of letters namely; 2 kinds of illustration styles which are realistic and cartoonist, the use of 6 column systems and one group layout model, 2 types of layout which are picture window layout and mondrian layout, the use of the 6 settings of modular grid and one hierarchical grid were also employed by students in making posters. This study is expected to be a benchmark and a pioneer for further research on students’ poster design. In addition, the teaching system of poster design will hopefully can be further developed.
