Abstract

Kesulitan siswa pada pembelajaran klasifikasi tumbuhan disebabkan oleh banyaknya jumlah materi dan istilah ilmiah sehingga menyebabkan beban kognitif. Ditinjau dari segi kegiatan pembelajaran, guru kurang dapat memfasilitasi kebutuhan siswa dalam belajar sehingga menghasilkan hasil belajar yang kurang baik. Oleh karena itu dilakukan penelitian untuk mengkaji beban kognitif siswa pada pembelajaran Spermatophyta menggunakan reduksi didaktik bahan ajar dan tanpa reduksi didaktik bahan ajar sesuai gaya belajarnya. Metode penelitian yang dilakukan adalah Quasy Experiment dengan desain penelitian Posttest Only Control Group Design. Sampel penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas X MIA 2 dan X MIA 5 SMA N 2 Ciamis. Instrumen penelitian untuk mengetahui kemampuan menerima dan mengolah informasi siswa diukur menggunakan Task Complexity Worksheet yang diintegrasikan ke dalam LKS, usaha mental siswa diukur dengan angket Subjective Rating Scale menggunakan skala Likert, hasil belajar siswa diukur pada aspek penalaran dengan menggunakan tes tulis. Analisis data dilakukan secara statistik dengan uji beda dua rata-rata, uji korelasi, dan uji regresi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan uji korelasi antara usaha mental terhadap kemampuan penalaran pada kelas eksperimen -0,465 dan signifikan sedangkan pada kelas kontrol -0,023 dan tidak signifikan. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa kelas kontrol masih memiliki beban kognitif yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan kelas eksperimen. Selain itu reduksi didaktik juga memfasilitasi siswa yang memiliki gaya belajar dominan auditori pada kelas eksperimen dalam mengolah informasi sehingga memiliki beban kognitif yang lebih rendah dibandingkan dengan gaya belajar yang lainnya. ---------- Student difficulties in learning the classification of plants caused by a large amount of material and scientific terms, that condition will lead to cognitive load. In terms of learning activities, teachers are less able to facilitate the needs of students in learning process, so the learing process outcome is not very good. Consequently, this research has been done which aims to study the cognitive load of students in learning the classification of plants Spermatophyta by using didactical reduction teaching materials and without didactical reduction teaching materials in the style of learning. The research method is quasy experimental and the research design is Posttest Only Control Group Design. The samples of this study were students of class X MIA 2 and X MIA 5 SMA N 2 Ciamis. The research instrument to get information of taking ability and processing information of student is measured by using task complexity worksheet which is integrated with Student Worksheet, then, student mental effort is measured by questionnaire subjective rating scale by using Likert scale, and student learning outcome is measured on reasoning aspects by using pencil test. The data were analyzed statistically by mean, correlation, and regression test. Correlation test showed that the correlation between mental effort with students outcome at the experimental class have -0,465 and significance, and at control class have -0,023 and not significance. It showed that cognitive load at experimental class is lower than control class. Besides the reduction of didactic also facilitates the students who have learning auditory style for processing the information, so the cognitive load is lower than other learning styles.
