Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pentingnya dan masih belum optimalnya kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis dan representasi matematis serta self-efficacy matematis siswa. Penelitian ini mengkaji tentang peningkatan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa dan representasi matematis siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran dengan model Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning (POGIL) dengan siswa yang meperoleh pembelajaran biasa, ditinjau dari keseluruhan dan kategori kemampuan awal matematika siswa (tinggi,sedang, dan rendah). Selain itu, penelitian ini mengkaji tentang pencapaian Self-Efficacy siswa yang memperoleh model pembelajaran POGIL dengan siswa yang memperoleh model pembelajaran biasa. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuasi eksperimen. Populasi penelitian adalah siswa kelas VIII di salah satu SMP Negeri di Kota Bandung. Sampel yang digunakan adalah dua kelas dimana kelas yang menggunakan model pembelajaran POGIL berjumlah 35 siswa dan kelas yang menggunakan pembelajaran biasa berjumlah 34 siswa. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data berupa instrumen tes yang digunakan saat pre-test dan post-test berbentuk soal tes uraian serta angket Self-efficacy siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa: 1) peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis dan representasi matematis siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran POGIL lebih tinggi secara signifikan daripada siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran biasa ditinjau secara keseluruhan dan KAM sedang, namun untuk KAM tinggi dan KAM rendah menunjukan bahwa peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis dan representasi matematis dengan model pembelajaran POGIL tidak lebih tinggi daripada siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran biasa; 2) pencapaian self-efficacy matematis siswa yang memperoleh model pembelajaran POGIL lebih tinggi daripada siswa yang meperoleh model pembelajaran biasa.;--This study was motivated by the importance and less optimal of mathematical problem solving and mathematical representation and students’ self-efficacy. This study examines the improvement of mathematical problem solving and mathematical representation of student who recived Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning (POGIL) model with student who recived direct learning, viewed from overall and early mathematical ability (high category, moderate category and low category). In addition, the study examines the attainment of students’ self-efficacy who recived POGIL model with student who recived direct learning. This study was a quasi experiment. The population in this study ware students’ on 8th grade at one of Senior High School in Bandung. The sample used two classes, one of them used POGIL model consists of 35 students and another class used direct learning consists 34 students. The instrument in this research to collect data is a matter of pre-test and post-test and questionnaire of self-efficacy. The result of the study showed that: 1) the improvement of students’ mathematical problem solving and students’ mathematical representation who received POGIL model was significantly higher than students received direct learning at the whole and moderate category, but for high category and low category it shows that the improvement of mathematical problem solving ability and mathematical representation ability with POGIL model is not higher than students who get direct learning; 2) the achievement of mathematical self-efficacy who recived POGIL model significantly higher than students who received direct learning.
