Abstract
Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi rendahnya keterampilan berbicara siswa kelas V sekolah dasar. Hal tersebut terlihat ketika siswa berbicara di depan kelas, artikulasi siswa masih kurang jelas dan pelan, perbendaharaan kata siswa masih sedikit karena siswa kurang dalam membaca dan tidak terbiasa berpendapat saat diskusi. Selain itu siswa banyak yang tersendat-sendat atau tidak lancar saat berbicara. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan penerapan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe time token dalam meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara siswa sekolah dasar dan mendeskripsikan peningkatan keterampilan berbicara dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe time token. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas, dengan mengadopsi model Kemis dan Taggart yang dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus. Hasil penelitian keterampilan berbicara yang dilakukan pada siklus I sebesar 73%, pada siklus II mengalami peningkatan menjadi sebesar 88%. Hal tersebut karena model time token merupakan model pembelajaran yang dapat membantu siswa dalam berbicara karena menuntut siswa untuk berbicara dan berdiskusi. Dari hasil tersebut, disimpulkan bahwa model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe time token dapat meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara siswa kelas V sekolah dasar.---------- This research was based on low speaking skill achieved by grade V elementary school students. This was seen when students speak in front of the class, the articulation of students was still less clear and slow. Moreover, the students’ vocabulary was still lack because students were less in reading and not accustomed to argue during the discussion. In addition, many students were faltering or not fluent when talking. This study aims to describe the implementation of cooperative learning model of time token type in improving the students' speaking skill of elementary school and to describe the improvement of the speaking skill by using cooperative time token learning model. The method used in this study was a classroom action research by adopting Kemis and Taggart model implemented in two cycles. The result of the research on the speaking skill done at cycle I was 73% and in cycle II had improved to 88%. This was because the time token model is a learning model that can help students in speaking and it requires students to talk and discuss. From these results, it can be concluded that cooperative learning model of time token type can improve the speaking skill of grade V elementary school students.
