Abstract

Pembelajaran IPA SMP dalam bentuk integrated science bertujuan agar tumbuh pada diri siswa sikap peduli dan bertanggung jawab terhadap lingkungan sosial dan alam, disamping mengembangkan kemampuan intelektual (berpikir logis) siswa. Namun dalam prakteknya di lapangan, meskipun minat siswa terhadap pembelajaran IPA cukup tinggi, namun implementasi pembelajaran ini belum berhasil membuat siswa menjaga lingkungan dengan baik. Peneliti memiliki suatu pemikiran bahwasanya untuk menjadi pribadi yang unggul perlu ada kesejalanan antara kemampuan berpikir logis dan karakter. Oleh karena itu, peneliti tertarik untuk mengetahui pola hubungan kemampuan berpikir logis siswa dengan karakter siswa SMP pada tema lingkungan dan tema hidrosfer dengan menggunakan instrumen TOLT (Test of Logical Thinking) dan TDM (Tes Dilema Moral). Metode yang digunakan adalah metode mixed methods dengan strategi embedded konkuren. Sampel penelitian dilakukan secara purpossive sampling sebanyak 250 siswa SMP kelas VIII dan IX yang terdiri dari 9 sekolah yang mewakili Cluster I, Cluster II, Cluster III, dan SMP Berbasis Agama di Kota Bandung. Dari hasil penelitian diperoleh bahwa terdapat pola hubungan positif secara signifikan antara kemampuan berpikir logis dengan karakter siswa SMP pada tema lingkungan dan tema hidrosfer (rs=0,162 dan rs=0,146; sig<0,05). Secara umum, siswa dengan tingkat perkembangan intelektual operasional formal mempunyai persentase moral knowing, moral feeling, dan moral action yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan siswa tahap operasional konkret dan transisi. ;--- Studying science in junior high school is integrated which aims to grow on students a caring and responsible attitude towards the social and natural environment, besides to developing students' thinking skills. However, in practice in the field, this study has not necessarily make students keep the environment well. Researcher has thought that to be a great personal needs to be comprehention between logical thinking ability and character. Therefore, researcher is interested to know how the students' logical thinking ability and characters of junior high school students on environment and hydrosphere themes using Test of Logical Thinking (TOLT) and Test of Dilemma Moral (TDM). The research used mixed method with concurrent embedded strategy. Sample used purposive sampling conducted as many as 250 junior high school students of class VIII and IX which consists of nine schools representing Cluster I, Cluster II, Cluster III, and SMP-Based Religion in Bandung. The result showed that there is a positive correlation and significant between logical thinking achievement and characters of junior high school students on environmental and hydrosphere themes (rs = 0.162 and rs = 0.146; sig <0.05). In general, students with logical thinking of formal operational stage has percentage moral knowing, moral feeling, and moral action is higher than the students of concrete operational stage and transition.
