Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pentingnya kemampuan berpikir geometri. Namun, kemampuan berpikir geometri siswa pada kenyataannya belum optimal. Oleh karena itu, pembelajaran SAVI dan pembelajaran langsung diterapkan untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk: 1) menganalisis perbedaan peningkatan kemampuan berpikir geometri antara siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran matematika dengan model pembelajaran SAVI dan model pembelajaran langsung; 2) menganalisis perbedaan peningkatan kemampuan berpikir geometri antara siswa yang memiliki kemandirian tinggi, sedang, dan rendah; 3) menganalisis ada atau tidaknya efek interaksi antara model pembelajaran dan tingkat kemandirian belajar terhadap kemampuan berpikir geometri siswa. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian quasi experiment dengan desain penelitian the pretest-post-tes two treatment design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VII salah satu SMP di Kota Tangerang. Sampel pada penelitian ini adalah 84 siswa yang berasal dari dua kelas. Pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa soal tes kemampuan berpikir geometri dan angket kemandirian belajar. Temuan pada penelitian ini adalah: (1) terdapat perbedaan peningkatan kemampuan berpikir geometri antara siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran matematika dengan model pembelajaran SAVI dan model pembelajaran langsung; (2) tidak terdapat perbedaan peningkatan kemampuan berpikir geometri antara siswa yang memiliki kemandirian tinggi, sedang, dan rendah; (3) tidak terdapat efek interaksi antara model pembelajaran yang digunakan dan tingkat kemandirian belajar siswa terhadap peningkatan kemampuan berpikir geometri siswa. Kata Kunci: Kemampuan Berpikir Geometri, Kemandirian Belajar, Model Pembelajaran SAVI, Model Pembelajaran Langsung. This research was based on the importance of geometric thinking ability. However, geometric thinking ability of the students in fact are still not optimal. Therefore, the SAVI dan direct teaching was applied to overcome the problem. The purpose of this study was to: 1) analyze the difference of improvement of geometric thinking ability between students who receive the learning of mathematics with SAVI and direct teaching model; 2) analyze the difference of improvement of geometric thinking ability between student that has a high, medium and low independence learning; 3) analyze the presence or effect of interaction between teaching models and the degree of independence learning to increased ability to think geometry. This research was a quasi experimental research with pre-test and post test used two treatment design. The population in this study were the students in class 7 (the first grade) in one junior high school in the city of Tangerang. The sample in this study were 84 students from two different classes. The sampling using techniques purposive sampling. Instruments that used in this study were the questions of geometric thinking ability test and independent learning questionnaires. The finding in this study are: (1) there was no increased ability to think geometry there are differences between students who receive SAVI learning model and direct learning model; (2) there was no difference increased ability to think geometry between students who have high, medium and low learning independence; (3) there is no effect of interaction between the teaching model and the degree of independence learning of the improvement of students’ geometric thinking ability.
