Abstract

Setiap hari orang memakai bahan tekstil baik dalam bentuk busana (fashion) seperti blus, rok, jaket, rompi, gaun, kebaya, kerudung, dan sebagainya, adapun kebutuhan rumah tangga seperti taplak meja, gorden seprei dan lain sebagainya. Disini penulis ingin mencoba membuat skripsi penciptaan dengan menciptakan karya busana(fashion) dengan motif ikan pari manta. Ikan pari manta sendiri dipilih karena ikan ini jarang sekali dipakai untuk dijadikan sebuah motif dalam dunia tekstil. Ikan pari manta memiliki keunikan fisik yang berbeda dengan ikan lainnya dan merupakan hewan yang terancam punah dan termasuk hewan yang dilindungi di Indonesia. Tujuan penciptaan ini diantaranya, yaitu 1) Untuk menerapkan konsep berkarya tekstil motif ikan pari manta dengan menerapkan teknik glue-resist. 2) Untuk mengetahui proses dalam mengembangkan karya tekstil motif ikan pari manta dengan menerapkan teknik glue-resist. 3) Untuk mengetahui bagaimana unsur-unsur dan prinsip-prinsip visual motif ikan pari manta yang diterapkan pada busana rompi. Metode penciptaan ini menggunakan Teknik celup rintang (glue-resist) diambil dari cara pewarnaan batik, yaitu dicelupkan ke dalam cairan warna. Rintang atau perintang dilakukan dengan cara mengambil dari pembuatan pola (motif) batik dengan menggunakan lem (glue) sebagai perintang. Terdapat empat buah karya yang didalamnya terdapat objek ikan pari manta dengan bentuk yang berbeda. Motif tersebut diterapkan pada empat desain rompi (vest). Keempatnya dikerjakan dengan tahapan pembuatan desain motif dan rompi, pengeleman, finishing kain, penciptaan rompi, dan finishing rompi. Dari segi unsur visual menghasilkan garis sebagai bentuk, bentuk yang dihasilkan adalah ikan pari manta, warna yang dihasilkan diantaranya kuning, magenta, hijau biru, coklat, dan biru tua, arah yang dihasilkan adalah arah vertikal, horizontal, dan diagonal. Dari segi prinsip visual dihasilkan irama, keseimbangan, dominan, dan proporsi. Keseluruhan karya ini diharapkan dapat memberikan inovasi teknik dalam pembuatan karya tekstil dengan alat dan bahan yang aman, mudah, dan murah. --- Everyday people wear textile clothes in form of fashion such as blouses, skirts, jackets, vests, gowns, kebaya, veils, and so on, as well as in the house holding necessity such as tablecloths, bedspreads, curtains and so forth. In this case, the author tries to write a thesis of creation (Skripsi Penciptaan) by creating fashion works with manta rays motif. The manta rays were chosen as the motif because this motif is rarely used in the textile. Manta rays have physical uniqueness which is different from another fish, and are one of the endangered and protected animals in Indonesia. The aims of this creation of works are as follow: 1) To apply the concept of creating works with manta rays motif in the textile by applying glue-resist technique. 2) To investigate the process of developing the textile works with Manta Rays motif by using glue-resist technique. 3) To identify how the visual elements and principles of manta rays motif are applied in the vest fashion. The creation method of the works was glue-resist technique taken from the way of batik coloring, which is being dyed in the colored solution. The resist was applied by applying glue in the predetermined batik patterns (motifs).There were four works containing the manta rays as the motifs in different shapes. The motifs were applied on four vest designs. All of the works were created through the following steps: the creation of motifs and vests design, glue-resist, fabric finishing, the creation of vests, and vests finishing. From the visual elements aspect, it produces lines as the shapes. The resulted shapes are manta rays. In addition, the resulted colors are yellow, magenta, blue-green, brown, and dark blue. The lines resulted in these works are vertical, horizontal, and diagonal lines. Meanwhile from the visual principles aspect, the results are cadence, balance, dominant, and proportion. All of this works are hopefully able to give a technique innovation in the creation of textile works by using save, easy, and not expensive tools and materials.
