    Abstract

    Pendidikan tidak hanya bertujuan mengembangkan kemampuan intelektual, tetapi juga penting dalam membentuk karakter peserta didik. Sastra, khususnya novel, menjadi salah satu media yang efektif dalam menginternalisasi nilai-nilai karakter. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengkaji struktur dan nilai-nilai karakter dalam novel The Privileged Ones karya Mutiarini sebagai dasar penyusunan buku teks pendamping untuk siswa kelas XII. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan sumber data utama berupa novel. Struktur novel dianalisis menggunakan teori Robert Stanton, yang mencakup tema, tokoh dan penokohan, latar, sudut pandang, gaya bahasa, simbolisme, dan ironi. Analisis alur didasarkan pada pendekatan struktural Tzvetan Todorov. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa novel ini mengangkat tema mengenai privilese, ketimpangan sosial, dan perjuangan meraih cita-cita. Terdapat 290 sekuen dan 111 fungsi utama. Tokoh terdiri dari sebelas tokoh dalam cerita, dengan tokoh utama yaitu Rara. Terdapat adanya latar tempat, latar waktu, dan latar sosial budaya. Sudut pandang yang digunakan yaitu orang pertama ketiga serba tahu. Gaya bahasa yang digunakan mencakup dialek daerah, bahasa tutur yang nonformal, serta penggunaan majas hiperbola, metafora, dan sarkasme yang turut membangun kesan ironi sosial dalam cerita. Nilai-nilai karakter yang ditemukan meliputi nilai religius, nasionalis, mandiri, gotong royong, dan integritas. Berdasarkan temuan tersebut, disusun buku teks pendamping berjudul Menyelami Unsur Intrinsik dan Nilai Karakter dalam Novel yang memuat analisis struktur cerita dan nilai karakter untuk mendukung pembelajaran sastra di kelas XII SMA. Literature, particularly novels, serves as an effective medium for internalizing character values. This study examines the structural elements and character values in Mutiarini’s novel The Privileged Ones as a basis for developing a supplementary textbook for 12th-grade students. Using a qualitative descriptive method, the primary data source was the novel itself. Structural analysis employed Robert Stanton’s theory, covering theme, characters, setting, point of view, language style, symbolism, and irony while the plot was analyzed through Tzvetan Todorov’s structural approach. The research findings indicate that this novel explores themes of privilege, social inequality, and the struggle to achieve one’s dreams. It consists of 290 sequences and 111 main functions. There are 290 sequences and 111 main functions identified in the story. The narrative features eleven characters, with Rara as the main protagonist. The setting includes aspects of place, time, and socio-cultural background. The point of view used in the story is a combination of first-person and third-person omniscient narration. The language style incorporates regional dialects, informal speech, and literary devices such as hyperbole, metaphor, and sarcasm, which accentuate social irony. Identified character values include religious devotion, nationalism, self-reliance, mutual cooperation, and integrity. Based on these research, a supplementary textbook titled Menyelami Unsur Intrinsik dan Nilai Karakter dalam Novel was developed. The book contains an analysis of story structure and character values to support literature learning in Grade 12 of senior high school.
