Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa sekolah dasar pada materi perkalian bilangan cacah. Hal tersebut disebabkan karena pembelajaran di kelas baru menggunakan model konvensional sehingga dalam proses pembelajaran siswa tidak terlalu berperan aktif yang menyebabkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah mereka rendah. Oleh karena itu, perlu adanya model pembelajaran yang diharapkan dapat meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa diantaranya yaitu dengan model Problem Based Learning. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas model Problem Based Learning dalam meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan desain pre-eksperimental design bentuk one group pre-test-post-test design. Hasil analisis uji Wilcoxon menunjukan adanya perbedaan rata-rata yang signifikan, maka dapat diartikan bahwa penerapan model Problem Based Learning efektif digunakan dalam meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa pada materi operasi hitung perkalian bilangan cacah di kelas III dengan kriteria keefektifan yang tinggi yang diperoleh dari hasil uji N-Gain. This study was motivated by the low mathematical problem-solving skills of elementary school students in multiplication. This is because the learning in the classroom only uses a conventional model so that in the learning process students do not play an active role which causes their problem-solving skills to be low. Therefore, it is necessary to have a learning model that is expected to improve students' mathematical problem-solving skills, including the PBL model. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the PBL model in improving students' mathematical problem-solving skills. This research uses quantitative method with pre-experimental design (one group pre-test-post-test). The results of the Wilcoxon test analysis showed a significant average difference, so it can be interpreted that the use of the Problem Based Learning model effectively improves students’ problem-solving skills in multiplication for third-grade students. The high effectiveness was confirmed by N-Gain test result.
