Abstract
Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh tingkat pemahaman konsep matematik siswa yang masih rendah yang berakibat pada kesulitan siswa dalam memahami konsep geometri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan peningkatan pemahaman konsep matematik siswa kelas V melalui penerapan model Guided Discovery Learning. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) dengan instrumen penelitian berupa lembar observasi dan tes hasil belajar siswa. Lokasi dan subjek penelitian ini bertempat di salah satu SD Negeri Kecamatan Coblong dengan subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas V dengan jumlah siswa 21 orang yang terdiri dari 12 perempuan dan 9 laki-laki. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan ketuntasan belajar siswa yaitu pada siklus I 67% dan siklus II meningkat menjadi 81%. Begitupun hasil rata-rata pemahaman konsep matematik siswa yang berdasarkan data hasil tes yang diperoleh siswa dengan nilai rata-rata pada siklus I 73, dan meningkat pada siklus II menjadi 76,98. Perolehan rata-rata tiap indikator yaitu: 1) Kemampuan menyatakan ulang secara verbal konsep yang telah dipelajari, di siklus I 88% dan di siklus II menjadi 93%; 2) Kemampuan mengklasifikasikan objek-objek berdasarkan dipenuhi atau tidaknya pernyataan yang membentuk konsep tersebut, di siklus I 63% di siklus II menjadi 88%; 3) Kemampuan memberikan contoh dari konsep yang telah dipelajari, di siklus I dan II memperoleh 80%; dan, 4) Kemampuan menyajikan konsep dalam berbagai macam bentuk representatif matematika, di siklus I 63% menjadi 67%. Dengan demikian, penerapan model Guided Discovery Learning dapat meningkatkan pemahaman konsep matematik siswa kelas V Sekolah Dasar.;---This research was based on the understanding of mathematic concept students that still low and ensued to student’s difficulties for understanding the concept of geometry study. This research’s purpose is describe to improve the understanding of mathematic concept in the fifth grade students through applying the model of Guided Discovery Learning. The research is using Classroom Action Research (CAR) method and the research instruments are observation form and the students test result. The location of this research is in one of SD Negeri Kecamatan Coblong and the fifth graders as a subject. The total of subject is 21 students consist of 12 women and 9 men. The result of the research shows that there are improvement of students learning that is on cycle I 67% and cycle II increased to 81%. And, the average result the understanding of mathematic concept based on the test result with the average score in cycle I 73 and cycle II increased to 76.98. The average of achievement indicators are: 1) the ability of re-verbally concept learned, in cylce I 88% and cycle II to be 93%; 2) the ability of classification objects, in cylce I 63% and cycle II to be 88%; 3) the ability to give the examples of learned concepts, in cycle I and II 80%; and 4) the ability to present concepts in representative of mathematic, in cylce I 63% and cyle II to be 67%. So, the application of Guided Discovery Learning model can improve the understanding of mathematic concept in the fifth grade students of Elementary School.
