Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji perbedaan pencapaian dan peningkatan kemampuan analisis dan sintesis matematis siswa yang mendapat pembelajaran saintifik dan pembelajaran konvensional. Penelitian ini merupakan kuasi eksperimen dengan desain eksperimen pretes-postes. Kelompok eksperimen diberi perlakuan berupa pembelajaran dengan pendekatan saintifik, sedangkan kelompok kontrol dengan pembelajaran konvensional. Penelitian ini melibatkan 58 siswa kelas VIII di salah satu SMP Negeri di Banjarmasin. Analisis data dalam pengujian hipotesis digunakan uji-t, uji-t’, dan uji Mann-Whitney U. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, ditemukan bahwa: (1) Secara keseluruhan, pencapaian dan peningkatan kemampuan analisis matematis siswa yang mendapat pembelajaran saintifik lebih baik daripada siswa yang mendapat pembelajaran konvensional. Berdasarkan kategori kemampuan awal matematis (KAM) rendah, pencapaian analisis matematis siswa yang mendapat pembelajaran saintifik lebih baik daripada siswa yang mendapat pembelajaran konvensional, sedangkan pada kategori KAM tinggi dan sedang, tidak terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antar siswa mendapat pembelajaran saintifik dan pembelajaran konvensional; (2) Tidak terdapat perbedaan pencapaian dan peningkatan kemampuan sintesis matematis siswa yang mendapat pembelajaran saintifik dengan siswa yang mendapat pembelajaran konvensional, baik ditinjau secara keseluruhan maupun KAM (tinggi, sedang, dan rendah); (3) Secara keseluruhan siswa menunjukkan sikap positif terhadap mata pelajaran matematika, pembelajaran matematika dengan pendekatan saintifik, dan soal-soal kemampuan analisis dan sintesis. ---------- Rahmita Noorbaiti. Application of Scientific Learning Approach to Improve Mathematical Ability of Analysis and Synthesis of Junior High School Students This study aimed to examine the differences in achievement and improvement of the analysis and synthesis of mathematical ability students getting scientific learning and conventional learning. This is a quasi-experimental study with pretest-posttest experimental design. The experimental group was treated in the form of learning the scientific approach, whereas the control group with conventional learning. The study involved 58 students from 8th grade in one of Junior High School in Banjarmasin. Analysis of the data in testing the hypothesis used t-test, t’-test, and Mann-Whitney U. Based on this research, it was found that: (1) Overall, the achievement and the improvement of students' mathematical analysis ability who received scientific learning gets better than students who received conventional learning. Based on the low KAM category, the mathematical analysis achievement and improvement of students who got of scientific learning better than students who received conventional learning, whereas at high and medium KAM category, there are no significant differences between students received scientific learning and conventional learning; (2) There is no difference in the achievement and the improvement of mathematical synthesis ability of students who received scientific learning with students received conventional learning, viewed as a whole and KAM (high, medium, and low); (3) Overall the students showed a positive attitude towards the subjects of mathematics, learning mathematics with a scientific approach, and questions of mathematical analysis and synthesis ability.
