Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi oleh temuan-temuan yang di dapatkan oleh peneliti pada saat peneliti melakukan observasi di salah satu sekolah dasar di kecamatan Coblong Kota Bandung. Temuan yang didapatkan oleh peneliti yaitu rendahnya kepercayaan diri siswa dalam pembelajaran matematika, temuan ini terlihat selama pembelajaran matematika berlangsung. Siswa terlihat tidak dapat bekerja mandiri, bertanya berkenaan materi, menciptakan suasana hangat dalam pembelajaran, bersikap tenang saat sedang mengerjakan tugas dan tidak dapat mengerjakan tugas dengan baik. Sedangkan untuk memecahkan persoalan-persoalan dalam pembelajaran matematika dibutuhkan kepercayaan diri yang tinggi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pembelajaran yang menerapkan model guided discovery dalam pembelajaran matematika dan untuk meningkatkan percaya diri siswa dalam pembelajaran matematika dengan menerapkan model pembelajaran guided discovery. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu metode penelitian tindakan kelas dengan menggunakan model dari Kemmis dan Mc. Taggart. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus dengan satu tindakan pada setiap siklusnya. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode penelitian kualitatif dengan memaparkan hasil penelitian dalam bentuk deskriptif. Pada siklus I terlihat masih rendahnya percaya diri siswa dalam pembelajaran matematika yaitu hanya sekitar 53% saja siswa yang sudah memiliki kepercayaan diri tinggi. Pada siklus II terlihat peningkatan yang signifikan yaitu sekitar 31% sehingga tingkat percaya diri siswa menjadi 84%. Dari hasil yang diperoleh selama penelitian siklus I dan siklus II menjelaskan bahwa penerapan model guided discovery dapat meningkatkan kepercayaan diri siswa dalam pembelajaran matematika. Dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran guided discovery siswa dapat menemukan sendiri pengetahuannya yang dapat digunakan untuk memecahkan persoalan-persoalan dalam pembelajaran matematika sehingga siswa dapat percaya diri saat memecahkan persoalan-persoalan dalam pembelajaran matematika.;---This research is based on the findings obtained by researchers when the researcher observeed in one elementary school in Coblong sub-district, Bandung. The findings obtained researchers were low student confidence in mathematics learning, it found while the mathematics learning process. Students could not seem to work independently, ask about material, create a warm atmosphere in learning, be calm while doing the task and not yet can do the job well. While to solve the problems-problems in learning mathematics requires high confidence. This research was to describe the learning of applying guided discovery model in mathematics learning and to improve students' self confidence in mathematics learning by applying guided discovery learning model. The method used in this research is the classroom action research with model of Kemmis and Mc. Taggart. This study was conducted in two cycles with one action in each cycle. The research method used in this research is qualitative research methods by describing the results of research in the form of descriptive. In cycle I is seen still low student self-confidence in learning mathematics that is only about 53% of students who already have high confidence. In the second cycle seen a significant increase of about 31% so that students' confidence level to 84%. From the results obtained during the research cycle I and cycle II explained that the application of guided discovery model can improve students' self confidence in learning mathematics. Because by using guided discovery learning model students can find their own knowledge than can be used to solve the problems in learning mathematics so that students can be connfident when solving problems-problems in learning mathematics.
