Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan membaca pemahaman kreatif siswa sekolah dasar khususnya kelas V. Hal ini juga didukung oleh beberapa riset yang dijadikan rujukan dalam penelitian. Adapun tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk 1) mengetahui pengaruh metode CIRC terhadap kemampuan membaca pemahaman kreatif siswa pada teks narasi serta 2) mengetahui perbedaan antara kemampuan membaca pemahaman kreatif siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran dengan menggunakan metode CIRC dan pembelajaran yang menggunakan metode GIST. Populasi dari penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas V Sekolah Dasar di Kecamatan Paseh Kabupaten Bandung. Sampel Penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas V SDN Drawati 2 dengan jumlah 40 siswa dan kelas V SDN Sanghiang dengan jumlah 35 siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan prosedur penelitian kuantitatif, dengan metode kuasi eksperimen serta desain Nonequivalent Control Group. Instrumen yang digunakan pada penelitian adalah lembar penilaian produk lisan dan tulisan berupa hasil karya siswa. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data kuantitatif dari hasil pretest dan posttest, kemudian dilakukan uji normalitas dan uji perbedaan rerata. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 1) metode CIRC dapat berpengaruh terhadap kemampuan membaca kreatif siswa pada teks narasi, terbukti dari nilai rata-rata pretest yakni 12,62 dan setelah diberikan treatment mengalami kenaikan dengan nilai 20,10 sehingga rata-rata nilai siswa di kelas eskperimen mengalami peningkatan sebesar 7,48 serta 2) terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara kemampuan membaca kreatif siswa pada teks narasi yang menggunakan metode CIRC dan yang menggunakan metode GIST dengan hasil perbedaan rerata postest kelas eksperimen dan postest kelas kontrol menunjukkan nilai yang lebih tinggi dikelas eksperimen yakni 50.05, sementara di kelas kontrol nilai yang diperoleh lebih rendah yakni 24.23 Dengan demikian, metode CIRC lebih efektif dan dapat dijadikan salah satu alternatif dalam pembelajaran bahasa guna meningkatkan kemampuan membaca pemahaman kreatif siswa, khususnya pada materi teks narasi. ------- This research is motivated by the low reading ability of elementary school students' creative comprehension, especially in grade V. This is also supported by several studies that are used as references in the study. The aims of this study are to 1) determine the effect of the CIRC method on students' creative reading comprehension skills in narrative texts and 2) find out the differences between students' creative reading comprehension skills between those who receive learning using the CIRC method and learning using the GIST method. The population of this research is the fifth grade elementary school students in Paseh District, Bandung Regency. The sample of this study was grade V students of SDN Drawati 2 with a total of 40 students and class V of SDN Sanghiang with a total of 35 students. This research uses quantitative research procedures, with quasi-experimental methods and nonequivalent control group designs. The instruments used in the study were assessment sheets of oral and written products in the form of student work. Based on the results of quantitative data analysis from the results of the pretest and posttest, a normality test and an average difference test were carried out. The results showed that 1) the CIRC method can affect students' creative reading ability in narrative texts, as evidenced by the average pretest score of 12.62 and after being given treatment, it has increased to a value of 20.10 so that the average score of students in the assessment class has increased by 7.48 and 2) there is a significant difference between students' creative reading ability in narrative texts using the CIRC method and those using the GIST method. The results of the difference between the average posttest of the experimental class and the posttest of the control class showed a higher score in the experimental class, namely 50.05, while in the control class the score obtained was lower, namely 24.23 Thus, the CIRC method is more effective and can be used as an alternative in language learning to improve students' creative comprehension reading skills, especially in narrative text materials .
