Abstract

Penelitian mengenai implementasi Pendekatan Keterampilan Proses Sains (PKPS) yang menggunakan potensi lokal dalam pembelajaran keanekaragaman makhluk hidup bertujuan untuk menganalisis peningkatan kemampuan klasifikasi dan berpikir logis siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode weak experiment dengan desain penelitian one group pretest-posttest yang melibatkan 32 siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 4 Lembang Kab. Bandung Barat. Instrumen berupa Tes Kemampuan Klasifikasi Makhluk Hidup (TKKMH) berbentuk esai dengan menggunakan konteks potensi lokal berupa makhluk hidup yang ada di sekitar siswa, Test of Logical Thinking (TOLT), tes lisan, pedoman observasi dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) PKPS yang memanfaatkan potensi lokal dapat meningkatkan kemampuan klasifikasi siswa dengan rata-rata peningkatan sebesar 69% (kategori sedang) dan berpikir logis dengan rata-rata peningkatan dalam kategori rendah (17%); (2) Hasil analisis korelasi menunjukkan terdapat hubungan signifikan yang sedang dan positif antara kemampuan berpikir logis dan kemampuan klasifikasi; (3) Kendala yang dialami diantaranya keterbatasan siswa dalam mengungkapkan pendapat dalam bentuk tulisan, kurang lengkapnya bahan praktikum, kemampuan memfokuskan diri dalam kegiatan praktikum, dan kerjasama dalam kelompok yang belum baik. Dari penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa PKPS yang memanfaatkan potensi lokal secara signifikan dapat meningkatkan kemampuan klasifikasi dan berpikir logis sehingga dapat dijadikan alternatif untuk meningkatkan kemampuan klasifikasi dan berpikir logis siswa. Kata Kunci: Pendekatan Keterampilan Proses Sains (PKPS), potensi lokal, keanekaragaman makhluk hidup, kemampuan klasifikasi, kemampuan berpikir logis. A study about the implementation of Science Process Skills Approach (SPSA) using local potency on biodiversity instruction was conducted to analyze the improvement of classificatory and logical thinking ability of students. Weak experiment method with one group pretest-posttest design was used with involment of a number of seven graders (n=32) was conducted at SMP Negeri 4 Lembang West Bandung District. Instruments such as Test of Classificatory Ability on Biodiversity (TCAB) essay form using the context of the local potency in the form of biodiversity that are around students, Test of Logical Thinking (TOLT), oral tests, observation and interviews. The results showed that: (1) SPSA using local potency can improve classificatory ability of students with an average increase of 69% (medium category) and students' logical thinking ability in low average category (17%); (2) The results of the correlation analysis showed that there was a positive significant relationship between logical thinking ability and classification ability; (3) Constraints experienced during learning students include limitations in expressing opinions in writing, lack of accessory assigned lab materials, the ability to focus on practical activities, and cooperation in a group that has not been good. It comes to the cloncusion that SPSA using local potency significantly can improve the classificatory and logical thinking ability so can be used as an alternative strategy to improve the classification and logical thinking ability of students.
