Abstract

Penelitian ini didasarkan pada permasalahan siswa masih kesulitan dalam memahami konsep IPS tentang kegiatan pokok ekonomi sehingga berpengaruh pada hasil belajar yang dicapainya. Untuk mengatasi hal tersebut, dilakukan penelitian dengan menggunakan metode Mind Mapping dan metode Course Review Horay. Penelitian ini mengkaji ada tidaknya perbedaan pemahaman konsep siswa antara pembelajaran yang menggunakan metode Mind Mapping dan metode Course Review Horay. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen kuasi dengan desain Nonequivalent Control Group Design pada siswa kelas VII SMP Sekolah Laboratorium Percontohan UPI. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa metode Mind Mapping dan metode Course Review Horay sama-sama memberikan kontribusi yang baik dalam hal pemahaman konsep. Dengan metode Mind Mapping dan metode Course Review Horay, siswa dapat dengan mudah memahami konsep Ekonomi pada mata pelajaran IPS. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini bahwa pembelajaran dengan metode Mind Mapping dan metode Course Review Horay terbukti efektif meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran yang ditunjukkan oleh peningkatan pemahaman konsep siswa SMP kelas VII mata pelajaran IPS khususnya materi kegiatan pokok ekonomi. Kata kunci: metode Mind Mapping, metode Course Review Horay, pemahaman konsep siswa. The research is based on the problems that the students still have difficulty in understanding the concepts of social studies on basic economic activity that affect the learning outcomes. To overcome this, research was conducted using Mind Mapping and Course Review Horay methodes. This research is to axamine whether there is a difference on students’ understanding of the concept of basic economic activity between the class using Mind Mapping and the class using Course Review Horay methods. This research used a quasi experimental design with Nonequivalent control group design in the seventh grade at Laboratory Junior High School of UPI. The results showed that Mind Mapping method and Course Review Horay method contributed equally good in terms of the understanding of the concept of basic economic activity. By using Mind Mapping and Course Review Horay methods, students can easily understand the concept of basic economic in social studies. The research concluded that Mind Mapping learning method and Course Review Horay method are effective to improve the students’ understanding on the concept of basic economic activity at junior high school seventh grade on social study subject.
