Abstract

Membaca merupakan kemampuan akademis yang penting, akan tetapi masih cukup banyak siswa sekolah dasar di Indonesia yang belum menguasainya. Kebanyakan siswa tidak berusaha mengungkap makna dalam teks. Siswa terfokus pada pertanyaan-pertanyaan yang diberikan oleh guru. Hal tersebut membuat siswa ingin mengakhiri kegiatan membaca dengan cepat dan menjawab pertanyaan dengan benar. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuasi eksperimen dengan dua kelompok sampel yaitu kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas V SDN Cikondang, dan yang menjadi sampel penelitian adalah sebanyak dua kelas. Dari dua kelas tersebut diklasifikasikan menjadi dua kelompok pembelajaran, yaitu kelompok pembelajaran dengan menggunakan metode CIRC melalui media visual dan pembelajaran konvensional. Kelas V A dijadikan sebagai kelompok eksperimen, sedangkan kelas V B dijadikan sebagai kelas kontrol. Analisis data dilakukan secara kuantitatif. Analisis kuantitatif dilakukan melalui uji perbedaan rerata dengan taraf signifikan α = 0,05. Berdasarkan olahan data penelitian ini diperoleh temuan, bahwa terdapat pengaruh metode CIRC melalui media visual terhadap keterampilan membaca pemahaman siswa kelas V SD. Kesimpulan, bahwa metode CIRC dapat meningkatkan keterampilan membaca pemahaman siswa kelas V di SDN Cikondang Kecamatan Cingambul Kabupaten Majalengka.---- Reading is an important academic ability, will keep quite a lot of elementary school students in Indonesia who have not mastered it. Students do not try to reveal meaning in the text. Students focus on the questions given by the teacher. It makes students want to end their reading activities quickly and answer questions correctly. Researchers conducted research aims to determine the improvement of reading comprehension skills of grade V SD students using CIRC method through visual media. This research is a quasi experimental research with two sample groups that are experiment class and control class. The population in this study is all students of grade V SDN Cikondang, and the sample of research is as many as two classes. Of the two classes are classified into two groups of learning, namely learning groups using CIRC method through visual media and learning by lecture method. Class VA is used as experiment group, while class VB is used as control class. Data analysis is done quantitatively. Quantitative analysis was done by mean difference test with significant level α = 0,05. Based on the data of this research, it is found that there is influence of CIRC method through visual media to reading comprehension skills of grade V SD students. Conclusion, that CIRC method can improve reading comprehension skill of class V student at SDN Cikondang Cingambul District Majalengka Regency.
