This research was conducted based on the low rate of student’s learning motivation of class VIII-A MTs. Al Ghouniyatul Iliyah Subang in music learning. One of the cause is the ineffectiveness of music learning strategy used in class. The purpose of this research is to increase the student’s learning motivation through the application of active learning. This is a Class Action Research, using adaptation models of Kemmis and Mc. Taggart which consist stages of plan, act, observe, and reflect. The subjects are the thirty two students of Class VIII-A MTs. Al-Ghouniyatul Ilmiyah Subang. Through observation and questionnaire, the average results of student’s learning motivation in cycle I is 74.05%, while in cycle II is 86.9%. This shows an increase on student’s learning motivation through the application of active learning on music learning. This concludes that active learning gives students opportunities to involve themselves directly on solving the problem, to cooperate each other in order to understand the learning materials and also showing their creativity. This can increase student’s learning motivation in learning music.
