Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematis dan kualitas peningkatannya antara siswa yang belajar dengan pembelajaran realistic mathematics education dengan pendekatan brainstorming dan siswa yang belajar dengan pembelajaran konvensional. Serta respon siswa terhadap pembelajaran realistic mathematics education dengan pendekatan brainstorming. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuasi eksperimen dengan desain penelitian non-equivalent control group design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII di salah satu SMP Negeri di Kota Bandung dengan dipilih sampel dua kelas dari sepuluh kelas yang tersedia. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah instrumen data kuantitatif berupa tes kemampuan komunikasi matematis dan instrumen data kualitatif berupa angket siswa dan lembar observasi. Analisis data kuantitatif menggunakan non-parametric Mann-Withney U, independent sample t test, dan independent sample t’ test. Sedangkan analisis data kualitatif dilakukan secara deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa yang belajar dengan pembelajaran realistic mathematics education dengan pendekatan brainstorming lebih baik daripada siswa yang belajar dengan pembelajaran konvensional. Kualitas peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa yang belajar menggunakan pembelajaran realistic mathematics education dengan pendekatan brainstorming termasuk kategori sedang, sedangkan kualitas peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa yang belajar dengan pembelajaran konvensional termasuk kategori rendah, maka dari itu kualitas peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa yang belajar dengan pembelajaran realistic mathematics education dengan pendekatan brainstorming lebih baik dari pada siswa yang belajar dengan pembelajaran konvensional. Analisis data angket siswa menunjukkan bahwa siswa memberikan respon positif terhadap pembelajaran realistic mathematics education dengan pendekatan brainstorming.;---This research aims to describe the improvement of mathematical communication ability and the quality of the improvement between students learning with realistic mathematics education with brainstorming approach and students learning with conventional learning. And student's response to realistic mathematics education learning with brainstorming approach. This research is a quasi experimental research with non-equivalent control group design. The population in this study is all students of class VIII in one of the State Junior High School in Bandung with selected two class samples from ten classes available. Instrument used in this research is quantitative data instrument in the form of test of mathematical communication ability and instrument of qualitative data in the form of student questionnaire and observation sheet. Quantitative data analysis used non-parametric Mann-Withney U, independent sample t test, and independent sample t’ test. While the qualitative data analysis is done descriptively. The results showed that the improvement of mathematical communication ability of students learning with realistic mathematics education with brainstorming approach better than students learning with conventional learning. Improved quality of mathematical communication ability of students who learn by realistic mathematics education learning with brainstorming approach including medium category, while quality improvement of mathematical communication ability of students who learn by conventional learning including low category, hence from that quality improvement of mathematical communication ability of student who learn by realistic mathematics education learning with brainstorming approach better than students learning with conventional learning. Analysis of student questionnaire data shows that students give positive response to realistic mathematics education learning with brainstorming approach.
