Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji tentang Penerapan Model Problem Based Learning untuk Meningkatkan Pemahaman Konsep IPA. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui sejauh mana pengaruh model Problem Based Learning terhadap pemahaman konsep IPA siswa kelas IV. Latar belakang penelitian ini ditandai dengan nilai evaluasi yang rendah, dengan kondisi siswa yang hanya menguasai dua indikator pemahaman konsep yaitu mengklasifikasi dan menjelaskan serta guru masih mendominasi di kelas. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian tindakan kelas yang diadaptasi dari desain penelitian yang dikembangkan oleh Kemmis dan Mc. Taggart. Penelitian ini dilakukan sebanyak dua siklus dengan 35 siswa sebagai partisipan yang terdiri atas 15 siswa laki-laki dan 20 siswa perempuan. Lokasi penelitian di sebuah Sekolah Dasar di Kecamatan Sukajadi Kota Bandung. Model Problem Based Learning menerapkan lima langkah yaitu orientasi masalah, mengorganisasi siswa untuk meneliti, membimbing penyelidikan, mengembangkan dan mempresentasikan, menganalisis dan mengevaluasi proses mengatasi masalah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan nilai rata-rata setiap indikator pemahaman konsep meningkat dari siklus I sebesar 61.29% menjadi 82.88% pada siklus II. Rekomendasi penelitian ini ditujukan kepada guru untuk dapat menggunakan model Problem Based Learning dalam pembelajaran agar siswa aktif untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konsepnya karena pembelajaran yang bermakna.;---The research reviews the implementation of the Problem Based Learning model to improve science concept comprehension. The objective of this research is to find out how far the implementation of the problem based learning model affects fourth grade students science concept comprehension. The background of this research is a low test scores, with the condition of student who only two indicators of concept comprehension that is classifying and explaining, and teacher centered. The research method used is classroom action research adapted from design by Kemmis and Mc. Taggart. This research is done in two cycles with 35 students as participant, 15 male students and 20 female students. The location of the research in an elementary school in Kecamatan Sukajadi, Bandung. Problem based learning model apply five syntax is orientation problem, organizing students to research, guide the investigation, develop and present, analyze and evaluate the problem process. After this research done, stundents concept comprehension average rate is 61.29% in cycle I and 82.88% in cycle II. This research result is recommended to teachers to able use the problem based learning model in the learning, so that students are active to improve their concept comprehension because of meaningful learning.
