Abstract

Metode pembelajaran adalah salah satu cara guru dalam menarik perhatian siswa agar lebih cepat memahami materi pembelajaran di kelas. Penerapan metode pembelajaran literasi media dalam pembelajaran menjadi metode yang membantu siswa dalam proses peningkatan kemampuan mengolah informasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan siswa dalam mengolah informasi pada mata pelajaran IPS kelas VIII SMP Labschool UPI Bandung dari media televisi setelah dilakukan penerapan metode pembelajaran literasi media, secara khusus penelitian ini bertujuan: (1) Untuk meneliti kemampuan siswa dalam mengolah informasi pada mata pelajaran IPS sebelum dan sesudah dilakukan penerapan metode pembelajaran literasi media dengan menggunakan media televisi. (2) Untuk meneliti ada atau tidaknya peningkatan kemampuan siswa dalam mengolah informasi pada mata pelajaran IPS antara sebelum dan sesudah diterapkannya metode pembelajaran literasi media dengan menggunakan media televisi. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII SMP Labschool UPI Bandung. Pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik Cluster Sampling dengan mengambil satu kelas yang telah ada yaitu kelas VIII B. Pendekatan pada penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan menggunakan metode kuasi eksperimen. Instrumen yang digunakan pada penelitian ini yaitu berupa pretest dan posttest soal pilihan ganda. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan dengan melakukan uji t-test. Hasil penelitian ini menyatakan bahwa terdapat peningkatan kemampuan siswa SMP Labschool UPI Bandung kelas VIII B antara sebelum dengan sesudah menggunakan metode pembelajaran literasi media pada mata pelajaran IPS. Secara khusus kesimpulan dalam penelitian ini yaitu sebagai berikut: (1) Kemampuan siswa dalam mengolah informasi pada mata pelajaran IPS sebelum dilakukan penerapan metode pembelajaran literasi media dengan menggunakan media televisi masih dibawah standar kelulusan. (2) Kemampuan siswa dalam mengolah informasi pada mata pelajaran IPS setelah dilakukan penerapan metode pembelajaran literasi media dengan menggunakan media televisi mengalami peningkatan dan sudah diatas standar kelulusan. (3)Terdapat peningkatan pada kemampuan siswa dalam mengolah informasi pada mata pelajaran IPS antara sebelum dan sesudah diterapkannya metode pembelajaran literasi media dengan menggunakan media televisi. Saran dari peneliti yaitu merekomendasikan guru untuk menerapkan metode pembelajaran literasi media dengan menggunakan media televisi dalam proses pembelajaran IPS kelas VIII di SMP. The learning method is one way teachers in attract the attention of student to more quickly understand the learning material in the classroom. Implementation Education of media literacy in the learning becomes methods that help students in process of increasing the ability processing information.This research aims to determine ability of student in information processing in social studies class VIII SMP Labschool UPI Bandung from television media after learning the implementation of media literacy, are specificallythis research aims: (1) To research the ability of student in information processing in social studies before and after the implementation of media literacy learning method by using television media. (2) To research whether there is increase in the students' ability to process information in social studies between before and after the implementation of media literacy learning method using television. Population in this research is class VIII SMP Labschool UPI Bandung. Sampling using cluster sampling by taking an that already exist is class VIII B. Approaches on research using a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method. The instrument used in this research pretest and posttest in the form multiple choice questions. Data analysis technique are used by doing the t-test. Results of this research stated that there is an increased ability Labschool UPI Bandung junior high school students of class VIII B between before to after using the method of learning media literacy in social studies. Specifically conclusions in this research are as follows: (1) The ability of students in processing the information in social studies before the Implementation of learning method media literacy using television media still below the passing standard. (2) The ability of students in processing the information in social studies after the Implementation of learning method media literacy by using television media has increased and has been above the passing standard. (3) There is increase in ability of student in information processing in social studies between before and after the implementation of learning method media literacy using television. Suggestion from researchers is recommending teachers to implement a media literacy method by using the television media in the process of social studies learning in junior high school class VIII.
