Abstract

Pemerintah dalam Kurikulum 2013 menyatakan bahwa komunikasi merupakan salah satu aspek penting kecakapan hidup. Minimnya penelitian mengenai metode penilaian kemampuan komunikasi sains secara lisan menjadi alasan lain dari dilaksanakannya penelitian ini. Pada penelitian ini, kemampuan komunikasi sains dinilai menggunakan metode penilaian expert-novice dialog yang merupakan penilaian kualitatif. Metode penilaian expert-novice dialog mengharuskan expert (ahli) menjelaskan materi tertentu yang telah dipelajari kepada novice (pemula). Subjek penelitian berjumlah 41 siswa kelas X di salah satu SMA Negeri Kota Bandung. Dialog dalam bentuk audio yang berjumlah 41 item kemudian dianalisis hingga didapat Indeks Kinerja kemampuan komunikasi sains masing-masing siswa. Kemudian Indeks Kinerja dikorelasikan dengan hasil preliminary data untuk mengetahui validitasnya. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah memperoleh informasi mengenai (1) teknik penilaian kemampuan komunikasi sains menggunakan metode expert-novice dialog, (2) profil kemampuan komunikasi sains siswa, dan (3) pengaruh aspek konten faktual, konteks, bahasa, dan bentuk representasi terhadap kemampuan komunikasi sains siswa. Teknik penilaian ini valid untuk menilai kemampuan komunikasi sains siswa dalam bentuk Indeks kinerja, yang dapat membedakan siswa dengan kemampuan komunikasi sains rendah, sedang, dan tinggi. Hasil lainnya yaitu aspek konten faktual, konteks, bahasa, dan bentuk representasi masing-masing berkorelasi positif dengan Indeks Kinerja kemampuan komunikasi sains siswa. Dengan begitu, dapat dikatakan bahwa metode penilaian expert-novice dialog dapat digunakan untuk menilai kemampuan komunikasi sains siswa.;--- The government in Kurikulum 2013 stated that communication is an important aspect of life skills. The lack of research on science communication competence assessment in verbal is another reason of this research. Students’ science communication competence are assessed using assessment method of expert-novice dialog, which is qualitative assessment. This method requires the expert to explain the specific learning materials that have been studied to the novice. Subjects in this research were 41 students of class 10 as expert in one of the High School in Bandung. A total of 41 dialogues were analyzed to get a Performance Index of science communication competence of each student. Then, the Performance Index was correlated with the preliminary data results to determine its validity. The purpose of this research were to find out about (1) valuation techniques of science communication competence using the expert-novice dialog, (2) profile of students’ science communication competence, and (3) effect of factual content aspects, context, code, and representation forms to the students’ science communication competence. The technique is valid assessment to assess students' science communication competence. The Performance Index can distinguish between students who has low, medium, and high in science communication competence. Then, obtained also that aspects of factual content, context, code, and representation forms is positively correlated with students' science communication competence. Then, it can be concluded that the assessment method of expert-novice dialog can be used to assess students' science communication competence.
