Abstract
Penelitian ini membahas bentuk dan makna keris artefak pusaka Situs Makam Panjang Karawang, dengan tujuan untuk mendeskripsikan nilai-nilai pengajaran yang tersembunyi di setiap bentuk lekukan keris, agar pengetahuan yang terkandung di dalamnya dapat membangkitkan semangat cinta kasih masyarakat terhadap tanah air, nasionalisme, dan patriotisme, sehingga meningkatkan kepedulian dan kesadaran masyarakat terhadap tinggalan budaya Karawang. Untuk mengetahui nilai-nilai pengajaran yang terkandung di dalam bentuk keris, penulis mengunakan metode studi kasus sebagai strategi untuk menyelidiki kasus keberadaan keris artefak pusaka, yang dilakukan secara intensif, mendalam, medetail, dan komprehensif sehingga menghasilkan gambaran yang longitudinal. Melalui metode ini, penulis menemukan beberapa kesimpulan tentang nilai pengajaran diantaranya keris leres mengandung pengajaran nilai-nilai ketakwaan. Keris luk 3 mengandung pengajaran bahwa, seorang raja harus senantiasa mewujudkan sri, lungguh, dunya. Keris luk 5 mengandung pengajaran bahwa, seorang Patih harus senantiasa menjaga dan mengurus kesuburan negaranya, mengurus wahangan, dan hutannya, serta berterimaksih kepada yang melestarikannya. Keris luk 9 mengandung makna bahwa, seorang Arya hars senantiasa hidup lumampah, patuh terhadap bimbingan dan ajakan rajanya, menjaga lingkungan air, buah, serta memiliki sikap eling, handap asor, sauyunan, dan merbayaksa dalam menjaga negaranya. Sedangkan keris dhapur sangkelat mengandung makna bahwa pemimpin besar harus senantiasa memiliki sifat tegas dan bijaksana. ; This research discusses the shapes and meanings of keris as the heritage artifact found in Karawang Makam Panjang site (literally means a long tomb or grave), with the aim of describing the lessons behind each curve of the keris, so that the knowledge contained in the curves can evoke community’s affection and love for the mother country and nationalism, thereby raising community’s awareness of the cultural heritage of Karawang. To find the lessons or values contained in the keris’ shapes, the researcher adopted a case study method as a strategy to investigate the existence of the heritage artifact of keris, which was conducted intensively, in-depth, in-detail, and comprehensively, so that a longitudinal description was obtained. Through this method, the researcher arrives at some inferences on the lessons contained in keris, among others, is the fact that keris leres contains the values of piety; Keris luk 3 teaches that a King should continuously embody the traits of sri, lungguh, and dunya. Keris luk 5 constitutes the teaching for a patih (vice regent to the king) to consistently understand how to maintain and keep his land’s fertility, take care of the wahangan and its forests, and be thankful to the people who preserve them. Then, there is Keris luk 9 which entails the meaning that an arya (an official of a kingdom) should constantly lead a lumampah life; obey the king’s guidance and calls; maintain the environment, water, fruits; and possess the traits of eling, handap, sauyunan, and merbayaksa in maintaining his nation. Finally, Keris dhapur sangkelat luk contains a lesson that a great leader should possess the traits of assertiveness and wisdom.
