Abstract
Penelitian ini didasarkan pada rendahnya kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa dan keharusan dalam mengembangkan aspek afektif siswa. Untuk mengatasi hal tersebut, dilakukan penelitian dalam pembelajaran dengan menggunakan model concept attainment. Penelitian ini mengkaji masalah peningkatan kemampuan penalaran matematis dan self concept siswa antara yang mendapatkan model pembelajaran concept attainment dengan konvensional serta kesulitan yang dialami siswa ketika mengerjakan soal penalaran matematis. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuasi eksperimen dengan pengambilan sampelnya menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Populasi penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 1 Tarogong Kaler tahun pelajaran 2013/2014. Sampel penelitiannya adalah siswa kelas VIII E dan VIII F. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini berupa tes kemampuan penalaran matematis dan angket self concept siswa. Analisis data dilakukan secara kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Analisis penalaran dilakukan dengan uji statistik nonparametrik Mann Whitney-U untuk pretes dan uji t untuk postes dan N-gain. Selain itu, dilakukan analisis deskriptif terhadap indikator-indikatornya. Analisis data self concept dilakukan secara deskriptif dan di uji dengan menggunakan Mann Whitney-U. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: 1) pencapaian kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa yang mendapatkan model pembelajaran concept attainment lebih baik daripada siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran konvensional; 2) peningkatan kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa yang mendapatkan model pembelajaran concept attainment lebih baik daripada siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran konvensional; 3) self concept siswa yang mendapatkan model pembelajaran concept attainment tidak lebih baik dari siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran konvensional; 4) Kesulitan-kesulitan yang dialami siswa ketika mengerjakan soal-soal yang berkaitan dengan kemampuan penalaran matematis diakibatkan karena kesalahan konsep dan strategi. Namun, indikator yang mengalami peningkatan paling kecil setelah mendapat model pembelajaran concept attainment adalah pada kemampuan generalisasi. Siswa belum sampai pada tahap symbolic expression of generality yaitu menghasilkan sebuah aturan atau pola umum, dan manipulation of generality yaitu mampu menerapkan aturan atau pola berbagai persoalan. The study was based on students' lack of mathematical reasoning ability and necessity to develop affective aspects of students. To overcome this, research in learning by using a concept attainment model . This study examines the increasing problem of mathematical reasoning ability and self-concept among students who get cooncept attainment learning models with conventional as well as the difficulties experienced by students when working on the mathematical reasoning. This study was a quasi-experimental study by taking the sample using purposive sampling technique. The population was eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Tarogong Kaler academic year 2013/2014. The sample is a class VIII E and VIII F. Instrument used in this research is a test of mathematical reasoning ability and self concept questionnaire. The data were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. Analysis of the reasoning performed nonparametric statistical test of Mann Whitney U for pretest and t-test for postest and N-gain. In addition, descriptive analysis of the indicators. Data analysis was performed by descriptive self concept and tested using the Mann-Whitney U. The results showed that: 1) the achievement of mathematical reasoning skills students acquire concept attainment learning model better than students who received conventional learning; 2) improvement of students' mathematical reasoning abilities that get concept attainment learning model better than students who received conventional learning; 3) self concept of students concept attainment learning model get no better than students who received conventional learning; 4) The difficulties experienced by students when working on the problems related to mathematical reasoning ability is caused by an error concepts and strategies. However, the indicator increased the most minor after receiving concept attainment learning model is the ability of generalization. Students not yet reached the stage of a symbolic expression of generality that generates a general rule or pattern, and manipulation of generality that is capable of applying a rule or pattern problems.
