Abstract
Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh perubahan kurikulum sebagai dampak dari pandemi Covid-19, yang mengarah pada implementasi Kurikulum Merdeka, serta kebutuhan mendesak akan pembelajaran abad XXI yang menuntut siswa untuk menjadi lebih kreatif, kritis, kolaboratif, dan komunikatif. Selain itu, laporan INAP (Indonesian National Assessment Programme) dari Kemendikbud mengenai siswa kelas IV menunjukkan bahwa hasil pembelajaran masih berada pada tingkat yang rendah. Dengan latar belakang ini, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis keberadaan dan kualitas soal-soal Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) dalam buku Bahasa Indonesia kelas IV yang disusun berdasarkan Kurikulum Merdeka, sesuai dengan kerangka pembelajaran abad XXI. Metodologi penelitian yang diterapkan adalah kualitatif deskriptif dengan pendekatan analisis isi dokumen, yang dilakukan melalui Teknik pengkodean. Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa dari 238 halaman buku yang dianalisis, terdapat 90 soal HOTS dari total 223 soal. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa buku ini lebih cenderung memuat soal-soal Lower Order Thinking Skills (LOTS) dibandingkan HOTS, dengan dominasi pada indikator kognitif C4 (menganalisis) dan C5 (mengevaluasi). Meskipun demikian, masih terdapat banyak kata kerja operasional (KKO) dalam Taksonomi Bloom yang belum sepenuhnya terakomodasi. Bab II menonjol dengan jumlah soal HOTS terbanyak, yaitu 17 soal, sementara Bab I, Bab VI, dan Bab VII memiliki jumlah soal HOTS paling sedikit, masing-masing hanya 9 soal. Hasil analisis buku ini telah mengintegrasikan aspek-aspek pembelajaran abad XXI, terutama indikator 4Cs (Critical Thinking, Creativity, Communication, and Collaboration), di setiap babnya. Namun, untuk mencapai distribusi yang lebih seimbang dan pengembangan keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi yang lebih optimal pada siswa, diperlukan peningkatan dalam jumlah dan variasi soal HOTS di seluruh buku.

This research is motivated by curriculum changes resulting from the Covid-19 pandemic, leading to the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum, as well as the urgent need for 21st-century learning, which demands that students become more creative, critical, collaborative, and communicative. Additionally, the INAP (Indonesian National Assessment Programme) report from the Ministry of Education and Culture regarding fourth-grade students indicates that learning outcomes are still at a low level. With this background, this study aims to analyze the presence and quality of Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) questions in the fourth-grade Indonesian language textbook developed under the Merdeka Curriculum, aligned with the 21st-century learning framework. The research methodology applied is descriptive qualitative with a document content analysis approach, conducted through coding techniques. The results reveal that out of the 238 pages analyzed, there are 90 HOTS questions out of a total of 223 questions. The findings indicate that the book tends to contain more Lower Order Thinking Skills (LOTS) questions than HOTS, with a predominance of cognitive indicators C4 (analyzing) and C5 (evaluating). However, many operational verbs (KKO) in Bloom's Taxonomy are still not fully accommodated. Chapter II stands out with the highest number of HOTS questions, totaling 17, while Chapters I, VI, and VII have the fewest HOTS questions, with only 9 each. The analysis shows that this book has integrated aspects of 21st-century learning, particularly the 4Cs indicators (Critical Thinking, Creativity, Communication, and Collaboration), in each chapter. However, to achieve a more balanced distribution and more optimal development of higher-order thinking skills in students, there is a need to increase the number and variety of HOTS questions throughout the book.
