Abstract
Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pentingnya keterampilan dasar yang perlu dikuasai di abad 21 ini, karena kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis ini merupakan salah satu kemampuan sekaligus kebutuhan esensial baik pada konteks kehidupan sehari-hari (personal) maupun pada saat dunia kerja mendatang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis antara siswa kelas V SD yang menggunakan metode Problem Solving dengan metode Drill. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu metode eksperimen dengan jenis Quasi-Eksperiment dengan desain Non Equivalent (Pretest dan Post Test) Control Group Design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas V SDN Cibabat Mandiri 4, Kota Cimahi. Instrumen yang digunakan yaitu instrument tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis yang telah divalidasi sebelumnya. Instrumen tersebut diberikan sebelum perlakuan dan sesudah perlakuan. Analisis data pretest pada kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol diperoleh hasil bahwa kedua kelas memiliki kemampuan awal yang sama. Setelah itu dilakukan perlakuan di kelas eksperimen dengan metode Problem Solving dan di kelas kontrol dengan metode Drill.Selanjutnya, dilakukan post test pada kedua kelas. Hasil analisis data dilakukan dengan menggunakan uji-t untuk membandingkan skor kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis antara kedua kelas dan menggunakan uji n-gain untuk mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis antara siswa yang menggunaka metode Problem Solving dengan metode Drill. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat perbedaan dan peningkatan yang signifikan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa yang menggunakan metode Problem Solving dengan yang menggunakan metode Drill. Dari hasil tersebut penggunaan metode Drill lebih efektif digunakan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis pada soal cerita bangun ruang kelas V Sekolah Dasar. This research is motivated by the importance of basic skills that need to be mastered in the 21st century, because the ability to solve mathematical problems is one of the abilities as well as an essential need both in the context of everyday (personal) life and in the future world of work. This study aims to determine differences in mathematical problem solving abilities between fifth grade students of elementary school who use the Problem Solving method and the Drill method. The research method used is an experimental method with a Quasi-Experimental type with a Non Equivalent (Pretest and Post Test) Control Group Design. The population in this study were all fifth grade students at SDN Cibabat Mandiri 4, Cimahi City. The instrument used is a test instrument for mathematical problem solving abilities that have been validated previously. The instrument was given before treatment and after treatment. Analysis of pretest data in the experimental class and control class showed that the two classes had the same initial abilities. After that, treatment was carried out in the experimental class with the Problem Solving method and in the control class with the Drill method. Furthermore, a post test was carried out in both classes. The results of data analysis were carried out using the t-test to compare the scores of mathematical problem solving abilities between the two classes and using the n-gain test to determine the increase in mathematical problem solving abilities between students using the Problem Solving method and the Drill method. The results showed that there was a difference and a significant increase in the mathematical problem solving abilities of students who used the Problem Solving method and those who used the Drill method. From these results, the use of the Drill method is more effective in improving mathematical problem solving abilities in elementary school fifth grade story problems.
