    Abstract

    This research was motivated by the limited movement activity during the covid
    pandemic, both in coastal areas and urban areas which resulted in the possibility of
    a decline in children's basic movement abilities in the coastal and urban areas.
    With this, it is to prove how much influence the pandemic has on basic movement
    abilities in children, especially in basic locomotor movement activities at the age
    of 7-10 years. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of basic
    movement in children aged 7-10 years.The purpose of this study was to determine
    the level of basic movement in children aged 7-10 years. The method used in this
    research is descriptive research, with research subjects totaling 26 children aged 7-
    10 years. The instrument used is the Test of Gross Motor Development-second
    edition (TGMD-2). TGMD-2 is an instrument used to assess the level of basic
    movement in children. This test was first developed by Ulrich in 1985. Based on
    the results of the research that has been done, it can be seen that the results of the
    basic movement level of children in coastal and urban areas are still below the
    average (Below Average). The importance of knowing the level of basic
    movement in children, will make it easier for local policy makers in an effort to
    improve the standard of living of the community starting from the age of the child,
    then to pay more attention to facilities and facilities that can support children
    better in terms of their motor skills, as well as for teachers in schools, can facilitate
    in grouping children during learning based on age criteria, then in order to provide
    teaching materials that are able to increase the level of basic movement in
    children
