Abstract
Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kecerdasan ruang peserta didik sekolah dasar. Kecerdasan ruang merupakan ciri penting dalam aktivitas pembelajaran IPS Sekolah Dasar melalui penggunaan media pembelajaran berupa peta. Penelitian dilakukan untuk mengetahui peningkatan kecerdasan ruang peserta didik melalui pembelajaran dengan penggunaan media peta. Peta merupakan media pembelajaran yang digunakan dalam memecahkan persoalan yang berkaitan dengan keruangan pada permukaan bumi. Adapun desain penelitian ini adalah Quasi Experimental design yang berbentuk Nonequivalent Control group pretest posttest design. Partisipan dalam penelitian ini adalah peserta didik kelas 5 SDIT ‘Ibadurrohman dan SD Baiturrahman di Tasikmalaya. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran dengan menggunakan media peta berpengaruh terhadap pengingkatan kecerdasan ruang peserta didik. Indikator kecerdasan ruang yang diteliti yaitu mengidenfikasi objek melalui simbol, menentukan lokasi, menentukan jarak, menentukan letak koordinat, relasi diantara dua simbol dan komparasi objek yang sama. Hasil penelitian ini dapat menjadi saran bagi guru dan pihak sekolah untuk memaksimalkan media pembelajaran berupa peta terhadap kecerdasan ruang peserta didik.-----------------------This research is motivated by the low spatial intelligence of elementary students. Spatial Intelligence is the important feature in social science of Elementary School through map media.This research was conducted to find out the improvement of students’ spatial intelligence through social science by using map as a media. A Map is the teaching media used in solving the problems related to spatial on the surface of the earth. The design of this research is Quasi-Experimental design in the form of Nonequivalent Control group pretest posttest design. The participants of this research were 5thgrade students of SDIT ‘Ibadurrohman and SD Baiturrahman in Tasikmalaya. The result of this research indicate that a learning using map has an effect on the improvement of students’ spatial intelligence. The indicators of spatial intelligence studied in this research are identify object through symbols, determine the location, determine the distance, determine the location of the coordinates, the relationship between two symbols and comparison of the same object. The result of this research can be used as suggestion for teachers and the school to maximize media usage in the form of the maps for the students’ spatial intelligence.
