Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis lima lirik lagu yang dipilih dari album Queen's Greatest Hits, dan untuk menghasilkan makna dari hasil analisis. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menggambarkan jenis-jenis makna interpersonal dengan melihat jenis suasana hati yang paling dominan dan nilai modalitas. Desain penelitian ini adalah kualitatif pengumpulan dan analisis data. Sumber data utama diambil dari album Queen's Greatest Hits yang merupakan Bohemian Rhapsody, Seseorang untuk Mencintai, Jangan Hentikan Saya Sekarang, Kami Juara, dan Lirik Lagu Teman Terbaik saya. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan teori Linguistik Fungsional Systemic Halliday (Halliday, 1994) yang berfokus pada jenis suasana hati (Gerot & Wignell, 1994) dan nilai modalitas (Eggins, 1994). Analisis menunjukkan bahwa Mood Deklaratif dan modalitas median dominan digunakan dalam lirik lagu. Mood deklaratif mewujudkan fungsi ucapan pernyataan digunakan untuk menyampaikan informasi. Modalitas median cenderung memposisikan pembicara sama dengan pendengar ketika ekspresi kemauan digunakan dan juga menghasilkan seberapa kuat pembicara berkomitmen pada kebenaran.

This research aims to analyze five selected song lyrics from Queen’s Greatest Hits album, and it is to generate the meanings from the analysis results. The objectives of this study are to describe the types of interpersonal meaning by looking at the most dominant mood types and value of modality. The design of this research is qualitative of data collection and analysis. The main sources of data were taken from Queen’s Greatest Hits album which are Bohemian Rhapsody, Somebody to Love, Don’t Stop me Now, We are the Champions, and You’re my Best Friend song lyrics. The data were analyzed by using Halliday’s Systemic Functional Linguistics theory (Halliday, 1994) which is focused on mood types (Gerot & Wignell, 1994) and value of modality (Eggins, 1994). The analysis shows that Declarative Mood and median modality are dominantly used in the song lyrics. Declarative mood realizing the speech function of statement is used to convey information. Median modality tends to positions the speaker equal with the listener when the expression of willingness is used and also generated how strong the speaker commits himself to the truth.
