Abstract

This research was motivated by the lack of ability to read comprehension of four grade elementary school students. It’s because in learning, the teacher still used lecture method and the students are not accustomed to reading. The purposed of this study was to describe the application of reciprocal teaching models to improve reading comprehension skills of fourth grade elementary school students. The research method used classroom action research (PTK) Kemmis and Mc.Taggart models consist of planning, implementing, observing, reflecting consisting of two cycles. The subjects in this research were fourth grade students in public elementary schools in one of Sukasari sub-districts, as many as 28 people. Research instrument or the data process in this study used observation sheets, as well as tests, as documentasion and paper student. The results of this study have increased from cycle I to cycle II as much as 23% and with the average class increasing from cycle I with a score of 57 and increasing to cycle II to 77. And the percentage of graduation has reached 100%. From these results, it can be concluded that the Reciprocal Teaching learning model can improve the ability of reading comprehension skills of fourth grade elementary school students.;---Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh kurangnya kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa kelas IV sekolah dasar. Hal ini dikarenakan dalam pembelajaran guru masih menggunakan metode ceramah dan siswa tidak dibiasakan membaca. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan penerapan model reciprocal teaching untuk meningkatkan keterampilan membaca pemahaman siswa kelas IV sekolah dasar. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) model Kemmis dan Mc.Taggart yang terdiri dari perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi, refleksi yang terdiri dari 2 siklus. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas IV di sekolah dasar negeri di salah satu kecamatan Sukasari, sebanyak 28 orang. Instrumen penelitian atau pengolahan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah lembar observasi, tes, dokumenyasi,dan lembar kerja siswa. Hasil penelitian ini mengalami peningkatan dari siklus I ke siklus II sebanyak 23% dan dengan rata-rata kelas meningkat dari siklus I dengan nilai 57 dan meningkat ke siklus II menjadi 77. Dan persentase kelulusan sudah mencapai 100%. Dari hasil tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa model pembelajaran Reciprocal Teaching dapat meningkatkan kemampuan keterampilan membaca pemahaman siswa kelas IV sekolah dasar.
