Abstract

Penelitian ini sebagai salah satu model pembelajaran yang diharapkan dapat melatih keterampilan meneliti siswa. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengungkap penggunaan step-by-step model experiment dalam melatih keterampilan meneliti siswa abad 21. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada sekolah adiwiyata yang memiliki program khusus berwawasan lingkungan. Keterampilan meneliti yang diteliti yaitu keterampilan siswa dalam membuat latar belakang, membuat rumusan masalah, membuat hipotesis, mengumpulkan data, menganalisis data, mengevaluasi data dan mengomunikasikan. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah weak experiment dan desain penelitian yang digunakan yaitu The One-Shot Case Study Design. Terdapat dua kegiatan praktikum yang digunakan pada penelitian ini. Kegiatan praktikum ini menggunakan larva undur-undur sebagai subjek eksperimen. Fokus kegiatan 1 yaitu mengetahui pengaruh ukuran pasir terhadap ukuran lubang undur-undur dan fokus kegiatan 2 yaitu mengetahui pengaruh jumlah makanan terhadap ukuran lubang undur-undur. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa keterampilan meneliti siswa bervariasi. Perubahan jumlah persentase pada setiap kategori keterampilan meneliti terlihat setelah siswa mengikuti kegiatan 2. Penggunaan step-by-step model experiment berpotensi melatih keterampilan meneliti siswa. Keterampilan meneliti pada siswa sudah seharusnya dilatihkan tidak hanya satu atau dua kali pertemuan, tetapi pada setiap pembelajaran. Dengan adanya penelitian ini diharapkan penelitian mengenai step-by-step model experiment dapat dikembangkan.;--This research as one of the learning methods which was expected as a practice to train students’ research skills. The study aims to discover the use of step-by-step model experiment to train 21st century students’ research skill. The study was conducted in Adiwiyata School which concern more on environmental programs. The research skills aspect on doing an examination includes formulating background, formulating question research, formulating hypothesis, collecting data, analysing data, evaluating data, and communicating the result. The method used in the study is weak experiment and research design used in the study is The One-Shot Case Study Design. There are two practical activities used in this study. This practicum activity used antlions as the subject experiment. First activity focused on the effect regarding the size of sand towards the size of antlions’ hole. Second activity focused on the effect of food intake towards the size of antlion’s hole. The result shows that the students’ research skills are vary. The raising of students’ research skills to examine shown after students involved in the second activity. The use of a step-by-step model experiment has a high potential to train students' research skills. Students’ research skills subject should be trained more than once or twice, yet in every teaching-learning activity. Along with this research, researcher expect that the research towards step-by-step model experiment could be more developed.
