Abstract
Pemilihan metode pembelajaran merupakan hal penting untuk dilakukan. Metode pembelajaran yang melibatkan siswa menjadi aktif membantu siswa untuk lebih memahami materi dan meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir siswa. Kemampuan berpikir siswa, khususnya kemampuan berpikir kritis merupakan suatu dasar yang harus diperhatikan agar siswa dapat mengelola dan memanfaatkan informasi untuk bertahan hidup pada keadaan yang selalu berubah, tidak pasti, dan kompetitif. Rumusan masalah dari penelitian ini yaitu apakah metode pembelajaran Socratic Circles dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa pada aspek memberikan penjelasan sederhana (elementary clarification), membangun keterampilan dasar (basic support), membuat kesimpulan (inference), membuat penjelasan lanjut (advanced clarification), dan strategi dan taktik (strategies and tactics) pada Mata Pelajaran PPKn?. Metode yang digunakan penelitian ini adalah metode kuasi ekperimen dengan desain penelitian one group time series design. Pupulasi dari penelitian ini yaitu seluruh kelas VIII di SMPN 4 Bandung, dengan sampel penelitian ini yaitu kelas VIII A di SMPN 4 Bandung. Hasil dari penelitian ini yaitu adanya peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis yang signifikan antara sebelum diterapkan metode pembelajaran Socratic Circles (pre-test) dan setelah diterapkan metode pembelajaran Socratic Circles (post-test). Hasil tersebut menunjukkan bahwa penerapan metode pembelajaran Socratic Circles dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa secara efektif pada mata pelajaran PPKn pokok bahasan Memaknai Peraturan Perundang-Undangan di Indonesia, peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa terdiri dari 5 (lima) aspek yaitu 1) memberikan penjelasan sederhana (elementary clarification); 2) membangun keterampilan dasar (basic support); 3) membuat kesimpulan (inference); 4) membuat penjelasan lanjut (advanced clarification) dan 5) strategi dan taktik (strategies and tactics). ---- The selection of learning methods is important to be done. The method of learning involves students become active will help the students to better understand the material and improve students critical thinking skills. Critical thinking skills is a basis that it should be noted to make the students could be manage and take the advantage of the informations to survive on the circumstances wheres always change, uncertain and competitive. The formulation of the problem from this research is whether the Socratic Circles learning methods can improve students critical thinking skills on aspects of elementary clarification, basic support, inference, advanced clarification, and strategies and tactics on the citizenship subjects?. The method used by this research is quasi ekperimen method research design with one group time series design. Population from this research is all of eight grades in SMPN 4 Bandung, with research sample is VIII A SMPN 4 Bandung. The results of the research thats the Socratic Circles method is indicated by the significant improvement of critical thinking skills between before applied Socratic Circles learning methods (pre-test) and after applied Socratic Circles learning methods (post-test). The results shows that the implementation of the learning methods Socratic Circles can improve the students critical thinking skills effectively on the citizenship subject. The increase in the ability to think critically students consist of 5 (five) aspects namely 1) elementary clarification; 2) basic support; 3) inference; 4) advanced clarification, and 5) strategies and tactics have 2 sub indicators namely decided an act and interact with other people.
