Abstract
Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya pemahaman konsep matematika materi bangun ruang yang dimiliki siswa kelas V SD negeri yang ada di kecamatan Sukajadi Kota Bandung masih dibawah standar Kriteria Ketuntaan Minimal (KKM). Rendahnya pemahaman konsep peserta didik dipengaruhi oleh kurangmya minat peserta didik untuk aktif dalam proses pembelajaran. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan peningkatan pemahaman konsep matematika materi bangun ruang. Upaya meningkatkan pemahaman konsep peserta didik ini menggunakan alternatif pemecahan masalah dengan menerapkan model Problem Based Learning. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas yang diadaptasi model Kemmis dan Taggart yang dilaksanakan sebanyak dua siklus, setiap siklus terdiri dari perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi dan refleksi. Partisipasi dalam penelitian ini yaitu siswa kelas V yang berjumlah 26 orang. Hasil temuan yang didapatkan oleh peneliti dengan menerapkan model PBL dapat meningkatkan pemahaman konsep Matematika pada materi bangun ruang menunjukan peningkatan pada setiap siklusnya. Sikus I yaitu 78.21 dan siklus II yaitu 90.77. Persentase ketuntasan pada siklus I yaitu 65.38% dan siklus II yaitu 96.15%. Rata-rata persentase indikator pemahaman konsep yaitu pada siklus I sebesar 75% dan pada siklus II ebesar 91%, dari ketiga indikator pemahaman konsep yaitu menyatakan ulang konsep, menggunakan dan memanfaatkan serta memilih prosedur atau operasi tertentu dan mengaplikasikan konsep atau algoritma ke pemecahan masalah. Berdasarkan data hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa pembelajaran Matematika dengan menggunakan model PBL dapat meningkatkan pemahaman konsep siswa yang dibuktikan dengan adanya peningkatan pemahaman konsep, hal ini dapat menjadi alternatif dalam meningkatkan pemahaman konsep matematika.;--- This study was emerged from the low comprehension of geometrical mathematic concept of fifth grade students in Sukajadi Elementary School, Bandung, which was still below the minimum criterion (KKM). This low understanding was influenced by the lack of students’ interest to be actively participated in the learning process. This study aims to describe the improvement of students understanding in the concept of geometrical. As an effort to improve students’ understanding, alternative problem solving was implemented by using Problem Based Learning model. This study was done by employing Classroom Action Research which was suggested by Kemmis and McTaggart and covered two cycles- each cycle consisted of planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting. Twenty six (26) of fifth grade students were involved as the research participants of this study. The findings of this study revealed that PBL can improve the understanding of mathematic concept on geometrical topic which was proved by the improvement in each cycle. The first cycle was 78.21 and the second one was 90.77. The successful percentage in first cycle was 65.38 % and the second cycle was 96.15%. The average of the percentage of the first cycle was 75% while in the second cycle was 915 from the three indicators of concept understanding, namely re-state the concept, use and utilize as well as select a particular procedure or operation and apply the concept of algorithm into problem solving. According to the data of the study, it can be concluded that the mathematical learning by using PBL model can improve students’ understanding which was proved by the improvement of conceptualizing that can be used as an alternative in improving students’ understanding on mathematical concept
