Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi oleh masalah kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa yang rendah di Sekolah Dasar. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menggambarkan proses pembelajaran membaca pemahaman dengan metode Direct Reading Thinking Activity melalui teknik Cloze Story Mapping dan untuk mendeskripsikan perbedaan peningkatan kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran membaca pemahaman dengan metode Direct Reading Thinking Activity melalui teknik Cloze Story Mapping dengan siswa yang menggunakan pembelajaran langsung. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuasi eksperimen dengan desain Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Kelas eksperimen diberikan perlakuan (treatment) menggunakan metode Direct Reading Thinking Activity dengan berbantuan teknik Cloze Story Mapping sedangkan pada kelas kontrol menggunakan pembelajaran langsung. Populasi sekaligus sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas V SDN Cipare Tegal kota Serang. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu tes membaca pemahaman dan observasi. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diperoleh kesimpulan yang pertama yaitu mengorganisasi, mengintegrasi, memprediksi, memverifikasi dan menyimpulakan merupakan langkah pembelajaran yang digunakan metode Direct Reading Thinking Activity (DRTA) yang berbantuan teknik Cloze Story Mapping. Kedua, terdapat perbedaan peningkatan kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran metode Direct Reading Thinking Activity (DRTA) melalui teknik Cloze Story Mapping dengan siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran dengan metode pembelajaran langsung. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan skor rata-rata N-Gain kemampuan membaca pemahaman untuk kelas eksperimen sebesar 0,606 berada dalam kategori sedang, sedangkan kelas kontrol sebesar 0,104 berada dalam kategori rendah. Artinya pembelajaran membaca dengan menggunakan metode Direct Reading Thinking Activity (DRTA) melalui teknik Cloze Story Mapping sangat effektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa, Keyword : Reading Comprehension, Direct Reading Thinking Activity Methode (DRTA), Cloze Story Mapping Technique, This research is based on the problem of students' low ability reading comprehension in elementary school. The purpose of this research is to describe the process of reading comprehension with Direct Reading Thinking Activity method through Cloze Story Mapping technique and to describe the difference of reading comprehension ability of students who get learning reading comprehension with Direct Reading Thinking Activity method through Cloze Story Mapping technique and students who using learning directly. This study is a quasi experimental research with Design Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Experiment class is given treatment using Direct Reading Thinking Activity method with Cloze Story Mapping technique assisted while in control class using direct learning. The population as well as the sample in this research are all students of grade V SDN Cipare Tegal Serang city. Instrument used in this research is reading comprehension test and observation. Based on the research results obtained the first conclusion that is to organize, integrate, predict, verify and inference is a learning step used Direct Reading Thinking Activity (DRTA) method which is supported by Cloze Story Mapping technique. Secondly, there is a difference in reading comprehension ability of students who get learning method of Direct Reading Thinking Activity (DRTA) through Cloze Story Mapping technique with students who gain learning by direct learning method. This is evidenced by the average score of N-Gain reading comprehension ability for the experimental class of 0.606 is in the moderate category, while the control class of 0.104 is in the low category.
