Abstract

Permasalahan yang menjadi kajian dalam penelitian ini adalah mengenai pengaruh metode Open Ended Question terhadap kemampuan Pemahaman Konsep pada mata pelajaran IPS kelas VIII di SMP Kartika XIX-2 Bandung. Penelitian menggunakan kuasi eksperimen dengan desain penelitian faktorial 2 x 2 yang membagi dua kelompok yaitu kelas eskperimen dan kelas kontrol pretest dan postest dengan keaktifan siswa. Sampel penelitian ini adalah 60 siswa pada kelas VIII di SMP Kartika XIX-2 Bandung. Kedua kelas diberikan pretest dan postest. Pada kelas eksperimen diberikan perlakuan pembelajaran menggunakan metode Open-ended Question sedangkan pada kelas kontrol pembelajaran menggunakan metode konvensional. Analisis data menggunakan stastistic parametric dan analisis Univariat untuk mengetahui interaksi antara ketiga variabel. Hasil analisis data yang dilakukan pada penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa 1) Terdapat perbedaaan kemampuan pemahaman konsep pada siswa yang menggunakan metode Open Ended Question dengan siswa yang menggunakan metode konvensional; 2) Terdapat perbedaan pemahaman konsep antara kelas yang menggunakan metode Open Ended Question dan metode konvensional pada keaktifan siswa; 3) Terdapat interaksi antara metode Open ended Question dan keaktifan siswa terhadap Pemahaman Konsep siswa. kesimpulan dari hasil penelitian ini adalah penggunaan metode Open Ended Question lebih baik dari pada metode konvesional untuk kemampuan pemahaman siswa pada mata pelajaran ilmu pengetahuan sosial, selain itu metode Open Ended Question dapat meningkatkan keaktifan siswa daripada metode konvensional.----------The problems to be studied in this research is the method Open Ended Question effect on the ability of understanding of concepts in social studies class VIII in SMP Kartika XIX-2 Bandung. The study used a quasi-experimental design with 2 x 2 factorial study that divides the two groups, classes and class experimentation pretest and posttest control with student activity. The sample was 60 students in class VIII SMP Kartika XIX-2 Bandung. Both classes are given pretest and posttest. In the experimental group was given treatment study using Open-ended Question whereas in the control classroom learning using conventional methods. Analysis of data using parametric and stastistic Univariate analysis to understand the interaction between these three variables. The results of data analysis performed in this study show that 1) There are differences in the ability of understanding the concept of the students who use the method Open Ended Question by students using conventional methods; 2) There are differences between the understanding of the concept class that uses the Open Ended Question methods and conventional methods on the involvement of the student; 3) There is an interaction between the Open-ended method Question and involvement of the student against student Concept Training. Conclusions of this research is the use of Open Ended Question method is better than the conventional method for understanding the ability of students in social science subjects, in addition to the Open Ended Question methods can enhance students' active than conventional methods.
