Abstract
Penelitian dengan judul Perbandingan Peningkatan Kemampuan Penalaran Matematis antara Siswa SMP yang Memperoleh Pembelajaran dengan Model Problem Based Learning dan Model Pembelajaran Peningkatan Kemampuan Berpikir ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pentingnya kemampuan penalaran matematis dalam pembelajaran matematika. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk (1) membandingkan peningkatan kemampuan penalaran matematis antara siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran dengan model problem based learning dan model pembelajaran peningkatan kemampuan berpikir, (2) mengetahui kualitas peningkatan kemampuan penalaran matematis pada siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran dengan model problem based learning dan (3) siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran dengan model pembelajaran peningkatan kemampuan berpikir, serta (4) mengetahui sikap siswa terhadap kedua model pembelajaran tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan pretest-posttest nonequivalent multiple-group design dengan populasi seluruh siswa kelas VIII tahun ajaran 2013/2014 di salah satu SMP Negeri di kota Bandung. Sampel terdiri dari dua kelas yang diambil dengan teknik purposive sampling. Data diperoleh dari tes kemampuan penalaran matematis, lembar observasi, serta angket sikap siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran dengan model pembelajaran peningkatan kemampuan berpikir lebih baik dari siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran dengan model problem based learning. Rata-rata indeks gain ternormalisasi siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran dengan model problem based learning adalah 0,4058 yang termasuk kategori sedang. Sedangkan siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran dengan model pembelajaran peningkatan kemampuan berpikir, rata-rata indeks gain ternormalisasinya adalah 0,6377 yang juga termasuk kategori sedang. Selain itu, siswa memberikan respon positif terhadap kedua model pembelajaran yang dilakukan oleh penulis. This research, which is titled Comparison of Increasing of Mathematical Reasoning Ability between Junior High School Students Who Obtain Learning by Problem Based Learning Model and Improving Ability to Think Learning Model, held because of the importance of mathematical reasoning ability. This study aims to (1) comparing the increasing of mathematical reasoning ability between students who obtained learning by problem based learning model and improving ability to think learning model, (2) knowing the quality of the increasing of mathematical reasoning ability both on students who obtained problem based learning model and (3) those who obtained improving ability to think learning model and (3) knowing students' attitudes towards both learning models. This study used a pretest-posttest nonequivalent multiple-group design which population is entire eighth grade students of a Junior High School in Bandung in the 2013/2014 school year. The sample consist of two classes which is taken by purposive sampling technique. Data is collected from tests of mathematical reasoning abilities, observation sheets, and students' attitudes questionnaire. Result of this research indicate that the increasing of mathematical reasoning ability of students who obtained learning by improving ability to think learning model were better than students who obtained learning by problem based learning model. Average normalized gain of students who obtained learning by problem based learning model is 0,4058, which is belong to medium category, while students who obtained learning by improving ability to think model reach 0,6377, which is also belong to medium category.
