Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh kesenjangan antara kemampuan kognitif siswa dengan proses memperoleh pengetahuan melalui pemecahan masalah. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah: (1) mengetahui perbedaan peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis antara siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran matematika berbantuan multimedia berdasarkan teori beban kognitif dengan siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran matematika konvensional; (2) mengetahui respon siswa terhadap pembelajaran matematika berbantuan multimedia berdasarkan teori beban kognitif. Dalam penelitian ini metode yang digunakan adalah metode kuasi-eksperimen, dengan desain nonekuivalent control group. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII di salah satu sekolah menengah pertama di kota Bandung tahun ajaran 2015/2016 dan sampel pada penelitian ini adalah siswa dari dua kelas pada sekolah tersebut, dengan satu kelas sebagai kelas eksperimen dan satu kelas lainnya sebagai kelas kontrol. Satu kelas sebagai kelas eksperimen memperoleh pembelajaran matematika berbantuan multimedia berdasarkan teori beban kognitif dan satu kelas sebagai kelas kontrol memperoleh pembelajaran konvensional. Data penelitian ini diperoleh melalui tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa, angket respon siswa dan lembar observasi. Hasil penelitian ini adalah: (1) Peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran matematika berbantuan multimedia berdasarkan teori beban kognitif tidak berbeda dengan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran konvensional; (2) Rata-rata siswa memberikan respon positif terhadap pembelajaran matematika berbantuan multimedia berdasarkan teori beban kognitif. ---------- The Improvement Students’ Mathematical Problem Solving Ability trough Mathematics Learning Assisted Multimedia based on Cognitive Loads’ Theory The background of this study was the gap between students’ cognitive ability and achieve knowledges’ process through problem solving. The objectives of this study were: (1) determining the improvement mathematical problem solving ability’s difference between students under mathematics learning assisted multimedia based on cognitive loads’ theory and students under conventional mathematics learning; (2) determining students’ response to mathematics learning assisted multimedia based on cognitive loads’ theory. A quasi-experimental with nonequivalent control group design was used as the research method. The populations of this study were eighth graders of a junior high school in Bandung, 2015/2016 school year. The samples of this research were two classes of students of the school; one class as the experimental group which was given mathematics learning assisted multimedia based on cognitive loads’ theory and the other as the control group which was given conventional mathematics learning. The data were obtained from mathematical problem solving test, students’ response questionnaire and observation. The researchs’ results showed that: (1) the improvement of students’ mathematical problem solving under mathematics learning assisted multimedia based on cognitive loads’ theory was same as students under conventional mathematics learning ; (2) the average students give positive responses to mathematics learning assisted multimedia based on cognitive loads’ theory.
