Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan pemahaman matematis dan pentingnya kemampuan pemahaman matematis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah pencapaian dan peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman matematis siswa yang menggunakan model pembelajaran penemuan terbimbing lebih baik dari siswa yang menggunakan pembelajaran konvensional, serta untuk mengetahui bagaimanakah kualitas peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman matematis yang dilihat dari tiap indikatornya. Jenis penelitian ini adalah kuasi eksperimen. Sampel dipilih tidak secara acak, tapi melalui teknik purposive sampling yang didasarkan pada pertimbangan guru. Dipilih dua kelas sebagai sampel, kelas VIII-A sebagai kelas eksperimen dan VIII-I sebagai kelas kontrol. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pencapaian dan peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman matematis siswa yang menggunakan model pembelajaran penemuan terbimbing lebih baik dari siswa yang menggunakan pembelajaran konvensional. Selain itu, hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kedua kelas memiliki kualitas peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman matematis yang masuk dalam kategori sedang. The purpose of this study was to determine whether the achievement and improvement of mathematical understanding ability of students who use guided discovery learning model are better than students who use conventional learning, moreover to determine how the improvement quality of mathematical understanding ability that viewed of each its indicators. The sample was not randomly selected, but using purposive sampling that was based on consideration of teachers. Selected two classes as samples, VIII-A as experiment class and VIII-I as control class. The result showed that the achievement and improvement of mathematical understanding ability of students who use guided discovery learning model were better than students who use conventional learning. In addition, overall both classes had same improvement quality of mathematical understanding ability that in medium quality.
