Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui jenis gaya belajar siswa, kesulitan siswa dalam menyelesaikan masalah kontekstual pada masing-masing gaya belajar, faktor penyebab dan alternatif solusi dari kesulitan siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII di salah satu SMP di Kota Cimahi dan 6 di antaranya diwawancarai. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa jenis gaya belajar siswa kelas VIII adalah visual, auditori, dan kinestetik. Kesulitan yang dialami siswa visual adalah kesulitan memahami informasi, memahami konsep, mengubah masalah kontekstual ke dalam model matematika, dan membuat kesimpulan menggunakan kalimat matematika. Kesulitan yang dialami siswa auditori adalah kesulitan memahami informasi, membuat model matematika, memahami konsep, menyusun langkah penyelesaian, dan kurang teliti. Kesulitan yang dialami siswa kinestetik adalah kesulitan memahami informasi, mengubah masalah kontekstual ke dalam model matematika, menyusun langkah penyelesaian, dan kesulitan perhitungan. Kesulitan siswa visual disebabkan oleh kurangnya pemahaman konsep, motivasi belajar yang rendah, posisi duduk terlalu belakang, suara guru yang pelan saat menjelaskan, dan suasana belajar. Kesulitan siswa auditori disebabkan oleh pemahaman konsep lemah, kurangnya contoh masalah kontekstual, metode pembelajaran yang tidak sesuai, dan sumber belajar tidak merata. Kesulitan siswa kinestetik disebabkan oleh kurangnya pemahaman konsep dasar, kurangnya keterampilan menghitung, mudah bosan, dan kurangnya variasi metode pembelajaran. Alternatif solusi yang dapat dilakukan yaitu membantu siswa fokus sebelum belajar, metode pembelajaran lebih bervariasi dan interaktif, materi dijelaskan secara rinci, evaluasi atau latihan soal bervariasi, dan guru dapat memahami karakteristik siswa dengan gaya belajar yang berbeda. This study aims to determine the types of student learning styles, student difficulties in solving contextual problems in each learning style, causal factors and alternative solutions to student difficulties. This study uses a qualitative approach. The subjects of this study were grade VIII students at a junior high school in Cimahi City and 6 of them were interviewed. The results showed that the types of learning styles of grade VIII students were visual, auditory, and kinesthetic. The difficulties experienced by visual students were difficulty understanding information, understanding concepts, changing contextual problems into mathematical models, and making conclusions using mathematical sentences. The difficulties experienced by auditory students were difficulty understanding information, making mathematical models, understanding concepts, compiling solution steps, and being less careful. The difficulties experienced by kinesthetic students were difficulty understanding information, changing contextual problems into mathematical models, compiling solution steps, and calculation difficulties. The difficulties of visual students were caused by a lack of conceptual understanding, low learning motivation, sitting too far back, the teacher's voice being soft when explaining, and the learning atmosphere. The difficulties of auditory students were caused by weak conceptual understanding, lack of examples of contextual problems, inappropriate learning methods, and uneven learning resources. The difficulties of kinesthetic students are caused by a lack of understanding of basic concepts, lack of calculation skills, boredom, and a lack of variation in learning methods. Alternative solutions that can be done are to help students focus before learning, more varied and interactive learning methods, materials are explained in detail, evaluations or practice questions vary, and teachers can understand the characteristics of students with different learning styles.
