Abstract

Menulis karangan deskripsi adalah suatu kegiatan menulis yang menggambarkan objek atau keadaan secara detail seolah-olah pembaca dapat melihat dan merasakannya secara langsung. Namun, kondisi faktual mengungkapkan bahwa masih terdapat peserta didik yang memiliki kemampuan menulis karangan deskripsi rendah yang disebabkan oleh pembelajaran bersifat konvensional, penguasaan kosakata yang terbatas, kurangnya pengalaman dan paparan yang minim. Maka, peneliti menerapkan metode outdoor learning dalam menyampaikan pembelajaran mengenai karangan deskripsi. Adapun tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu mengetahui efektivitas metode outdoor learning dalam Upaya meningkatkan kemampuan menulis karangan deskripsi kelas IV SD. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain pre-experiment one-group pretestposttest. Populasi yang digunakan yaitu seluruh siswa kelas IV SDN Roda Bogor yang berjumlah 20 peserta didik. Analisis data yang digunakan yaitu uji normalitas, uji non parametric Wilcoxon, dan uji N-Gain. Berdasarkan data yang diperoleh, terjadi peningkatan rata-rata hasil pre-test dan post-test yang mulanya 48 menjadi 71,25, dimana sebelum perlakuan umumnya peserta didik berada pada kategori kurang dan setelah perlakuan umumnya berada pada kategori baik. Berdasarkan uji non parametric Wilcoxon diperoleh nilai signifikansi sebesar < 0,001 < 0,05 yang berarti terdapat perbedaan ratarata yang signifikan antara nilai pre-test dan post-test. Dengan adanya perbedaan rata-rata yang signifikan maka dapat disimpulkan jika metode outdoor learning efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan menulis karangan deskripsi dan besar efektivitasnya berdasarkan hasil uji N-Gain sebesar 46% pada kategori sedang. Writing a description essay is a writing activity that describes an object or situation in detail as if the reader can see and feel it directly. However, factual conditions reveal that there are still students who have low descriptive essay writing skills caused by conventional learning, limited vocabulary mastery, lack of experience and minimal exposure. So, the researcher applied the outdoor learning method in delivering learning about description essay. The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of the outdoor learning method in an effort to improve the ability to write descriptive essays in grade IV SD. This study used a quantitative approach with a one-group pretest-posttest pre-experiment design. The population used was all students class IV of SDN Roda Bogor, totaling 20 students. The data analysis used was normality test, Wilcoxon non-parametric test, and N-Gain test. Based on the data obtained, there was an increase in the average pre-test and post-test results from 48 to 71.25, where before treatment students were generally in the poor category and after treatment were generally in the good category. Based on the Wilcoxon non-parametric test, the significance value is <0.001 <0.05, which means there is a significant average difference between the pre-test and post-test scores. With a significant average difference, it can be concluded that the outdoor learning method is effective in improving the ability to write description essays and the amount of effectiveness based on the N-Gain test results is 46% in the medium category.
