Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh permasalahan membaca pemahaman masih
rendah, ditandai dengan ketidakmampuan siswa untuk memahami isi teks dan
memperoleh informasi dari teks tersebut. Saat guru bertanya tentang materi, siswa
tidak mampu menyampaikan kembali informasi yang telah mereka pelajari.
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan membaca pemahaman di kelas VIII
SMPN 44 Bandung. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu penelitian tindakan
kelas. Pembelajaran yang digunakan pada penelitian ini yaitu metode problem
posing dengan teknik SQ4R yang dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus. Dalam
pembelajaran membaca pemahaman menggunakan metode problem posing
dengan teknik SQ4R, siswa secara berkelompok saling mengajukan pertanyaan
dan siswa lain harus menjawab dari soal yang diajukan, dan saat membaca siswa
menggunakan teknik SQ4R. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan adanya peningkatan
pada setiap soal yang dikerjakan oleh siswa. Dari siklus 1 sampai 2, rata-rata nilai
soal nomor 1 mendapatkan skor yang sama yaitu 100; soal nomor 2 mendapatkan
skor yang sama yaitu 100; soal nomor 3 dari skor 33 menjadi 67; soal nomor 4
dari 67 menjadi 85 dan soal nomor 5 dari 35 menjadi 70. Pada siklus 1 hasil
keterampilan membaca siswa paling tinggi memperoleh nilai 80 dan nilai paling
rendah 60 dengan rata-rata nilai kelas 67. Pada siklus 2 mengalami peningkatan,
nilai paling tinggi 95 dan nilai paling rendah 65 dengan rata-rata nilai kelas 83.
Berdasarkan hasil penelitian tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa keterampilan
membaca pemahaman dapat ditingkatkan menggunakan metode problem posing
dengan teknik SQ4R.

This research is motivated by the problem of reading comprehension is still low,
characterized by the inability of students to understand the content of the text and
obtain information from the text. When the teacher asks about the material,
students are unable to retell the information they have learned. This study aims to
improve reading comprehension in class VIII of SMPN 44 Bandung. The research
method used is class action research. The learning used in this research is
problem posing method with SQ4R technique which is implemented in two cycles.
In learning to read comprehension using the problem posing method with the
SQ4R technique, students in groups ask each other questions and other students
must answer the questions posed, and when reading students use the SQ4R
technique. The results of this study showed an increase in each question done by
students. From cycle 1 to 2, the average score of question number 1 got the same
score of 100; question number 2 got the same score of 100; question number 3
from a score of 33 to 67; question number 4 from 67 to 85 and question number 5
from 35 to 70. In cycle 1 the results of students' reading skills obtained the highest
score of 80 and the lowest score of 60 with an average class score of 67. In cycle
2 it increased, the highest score was 95 and the lowest score was 65 with an
average class score of 83. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded
that reading comprehension skills can be improved using the problem posing
method with the SQ4R technique.
