Abstract
Karya sastra dapat membentuk persepsi anak terhadap kondisi sosial masyarakat karena menjadi salah satu sarana untuk mempelajari dan mengenal dunia di sekitarnya. Salah satu kondisi sosial yang digambarkan dalam sastra anak adalah persoalan gender. Gender sering kali mengalami kerancuan makna dengan jenis kelamin, padahal keduanya adalah konsep yang berbeda. Gender adalah perbedaan antara laki-laki dan perempuan yang mengacu pada faktor sosial dan budaya, sedangkan jenis kelamin adalah perbedaan antara laki-laki dan perempuan berdasarkan faktor biologis. Gender melahirkan terminologi maskulin dan feminin. Maskulinitas dianggap melekat pada laki-laki, tetapi tidak menutup kemungkinan kualitas maskulin ditonjolkan oleh perempuan. Salah satu karya sastra yang mengangkat persoalan tersebut adalah novel anak berjudul The Little Detectives. Novel tersebut dipilih karena adanya maskulinitas yang ditonjolkan melalui tokoh perempuan serta adanya ideologi feminisme. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengungkapkan maskulinitas yang terdapat dalam novel detektif anak karya Nurila Azhary dengan cara: (1) menganalisis struktur novel; (2) mengungkapkan bagaimana maskulinitas di dalam novel; serta (3) meninjau maskulinitas dari perspektif feminisme. Dalam penelitian ini, metode analisis deskriptif digunakan untuk menguraikan maskulinitas. Teknik pengumpulan data yang dilakukan adalah studi pustaka. Peneliti membaca referensi yang relevan dengan novel detektif anak, feminisme, gender, dan maskulinitas. Berdasarkan analisis yang telah dilakukan, dapat disimpulkan bahwa maskulinitas adalah karakter-karakter yang terdapat dalam diri individu, bukan melekat pada satu jenis kelamin tertentu. Di dalam novel TLD, maskulinitas yang ditonjolkan oleh tokoh Janny adalah cerdas, jujur, kritis, pemberani, bijaksana, pemarah, berjiwa pemimpin, dan rasional. Berdasarkan tinjauan feminisme, maskulin dan feminin dalam novel tersebut menunjukkan kesatuan yang saling melengkapi. Maskulinitas dalam tokoh Janny menunjukkan bahwa setiap individu, baik laki-laki maupun perempuan memiliki kecerdasan, kejujuran, pemikiran kritis, keberanian, kebijaksanaan, jiwa kepemimpinan, dan sebagainya. Oleh sebab itu, setiap individu berhak menonjolkan karakter tersebut sebagai bentuk aktualisasi diri di masyarakat. ;---Literary works can establish the children's perception of the social condition of society because it becomes one of the means to learn and know the world around him. One of the social conditions described in child literature is a gender issue. Gender often experiences ambiguity with gender, whereas both are different concepts. Gender is the difference between men and women that refer to social and cultural factors, whereas gender is the difference between men and women based on biological factors. Gender brings out to masculine and feminine terminology. Masculinity is considered inherent in men, but does not rule out the masculine quality highlighted by women. One of the literary works that raised the issue was a children's novel called The Little Detectives. The novel is chosen because of the masculinity that highlighted through the female characters and the ideology of feminism. The purpose of this research is to reveal masculinity contained in detective child’s novel by Nurila Azhary by: 1) analyzing the novel structure; (2) revealing how masculinity is in the novel; and (3) reviewing masculinity from the feminist perspective. In this study, descriptive analysis method is used to describe masculinity. Technique of collecting data conducted is literature study. Researcher read references relevant to detective novel, feminism, gender, and masculinity. Based on the analysis that has been done, it can be concluded that masculinity is the characters contained in the individual, not attached to one particular sex. In the novel TLD, the masculinity featured by Janny's character is intelligent, honest, critical, courageous, wise, angry, leader-minded, and rational. Based on the feminism review, masculine and feminine in the novel shows a complementary unity. Therefore, each individual is entitled to accentuate the character as a form of self-actualization in society.
