Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas model pembelajaran Think-Talk-Write (TTW) dalam pengajaran menulis teks eksposisi di kelas VII SMPN 1 Cibeureum Kuningan. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Pebruari 2014 di SMPN 1 Cibeureum. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kuasi eksperimen. Sumber data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini, adalah siswa kelas VII A SMPN 1 Cibeureum Kuningan pada tahun ajaran 2013/2014 dengan jumlah siswa sebanyak 37 siswa. Untuk mengetahui kemampuan siswa dalam menulis teks eksposisi digunakan analisis data dengan cara analisis statistik, yaitu uji normalitas data dengan menggunakan chi-kuadrat, uji homogenitas data menggunakan uji F, dan uji hipotesis dengan menggunakan uji t. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, keseluruhan data menunjukkan peningkatan kemampuan siswa antara pratés dan pascatés. Dalam pratés, hanya 6 siswa yang mampu menulis teks eksposisi atau hanya 16,2%, sedangkan dalam pascatés, jumlah siswa yang mampu menulis teks eksposisi naik menjadi 29 siswa atau sekitar 78%. Dari hasil uji hipotesis yang menghasilkan titung > ttabélnya éta 15,08 > 2,44, yang artinya hipotesis diterima. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, bisa dikatakan bahwa model pembelajaran TTW bisa meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam menulis teks eksposisi di kelas VII A SMPN 1 Cibeureum Kuningan tahun ajaran 2013/2014.

The purpose of this study is to know the effectiveness of the Think-Talk-Write (TTW) model in improving student’s ability in writing exposition text at class VII SMPN 1 Cibeureum Kuningan. This study was conducted in February 2014 in the SMPN 1 Cibeureum Kuningan. The method which used in this study is quasi experimental. The population of this study is the students of VII A class SMPN 1 Cibeureum consist of 37 students. To determine the student’s ability in writing exposition text used data analysis which is statistical analysis, the data normality test using the chi-squared test of homogeneity of the data is using the F test, and test hypotheses using the t test. Based on the results of the study, all the data show some of the increased in the student's abilities between pre-test and post-test. There are only 6 students (16.2%) who are able in writing exposition text in the pre-test, whereas the number of students who are able in the post-test writing exposition essay increased to 29 students (78%). From the results of hypothesis testing that produce tvalue (15.8) > ttable (2.44). It is mean that the hypothesis is accepted. Based on the results, it can be said that Think-Talk-Write (TTW) model can improving writing student’s ability in writing exposition text at class VII A SMPN 1 Cibeureum Kuningan academic year 2013/2014.
