Abstract

Kemampuan keaksaraan awal merupakan salah satu kemampuan yang harus dikenalkan kepada anak usia dini, hal tersebut dilakukan sebagai upaya pengembangan salah satu kemampuan bahasa anak, selain itu kemampuan ini merupakan fondasi awal bagi anak untuk menguasai kemampuan membaca dan menulis, dengan catatan pengajaran keaksaraan awal anak harus disesuaikan dengan prinsip dan tahapan usia anak. Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan keaksaraan awal anak di salah satu tempat Bimbel anak yang berada di Kecamatan Buahbatu, dimana terdapat beberapa anak yang belum dapat mengenal, menyebutkan, dan menuliskan simbol huruf, selain itu media yang digunakan di tempat bimbel tersebut kurang beragam dan hanya terpaku pada buku saja. Sehingga perlunya tindakan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan keaksaraan awal anak dengan media yang menyenangkan yaitu melalui media permainana teka-teki silang modifikasi. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk menggambarkan proses pembelajaran dalam meningkatkan kemampuan kemampuan keaksaraan awal anak melalui media permainan teka-teki silang modifikasi, dan untuk mengetahui hasil kemampuan keaksaraan awal anak setelah distimulasi melalui media permainan teka-teki silang modifikasi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian tindakan kelas yang di desain oleh Pelton. Adapun hasil dari penelitian ini, kemampuan keaksaraan awal anak dapat ditingkatkan melalui media permainan teka-teki silang modifikasi, dimana pada tindakan 1 diperoleh hasil presentase sebesar 68%, lalu di tindakan ke-2 mengalami peningkatan yang baik dengan memperoleh hasil sebesar 76%, dan di tindakan ke-3 meningkat dan mendapatkan hasil yang diharapkan yaitu sebesar 82% ----- Early literacy is one of the abilities that should be introduced to early childhood, this is done as an effort to develop one of the children’s language skills, besides this ability is the initial foundation for children to master reading and writing skills, for the record that teaching children's early literacy must be adapted due to the principles and children staging ages. This research is motivated by the low capability on the children's early literacy in one of the tutoring places in Buahbatu District, where there are some children who cannot recognize, mention, and write letter symbols, besides that the media used in the tutoring place is diverseless and only depend on the books. As the result, it require some measure to improve children's early literacy skills with fun methode, namely through modified crossword puzzle games. The purpose of this study is to describe the learning process on improving children's early literacy skills through modified crossword puzzle games, and to find out the results of children's early literacy skills after being stimulated through modified crossword puzzle games. This study uses a classroom action research method designed by Pelton. As for the results of this study, children's early literacy skills can be improved through modified crossword puzzle game media, where in 1st action the percentage result is 68%, then in the second act there is a fairly good increase by getting a result of 76%, and in the 3th action it increased and got the expected results of 82%
