Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi oleh minimnya pemahaman konsep operasi hitung perkalian di Sekolah Dasar. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan penggunaan media kartu begambar untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konsep operasi hitung perkalian. Risiko jika siswa masih belum memahami konsep perkalian, siswa akan kesulitan dalam menerima materi selanjutnya dan akan menghambat penyampaian materi matematika pada pembelajaran berikutnya seperti materi konversi satuan dan materi pecahan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian tindakan kelas dengan model penelitian dari Kemmis dan Mc. Taggart. Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam 2 siklus dengan satu kali tindakan pada tiap siklus dengan jumlah siswa sebanyak 29 orang. Instrumen pengumpul data yang digunakan pada penelitian ini yaitu observasi, catatan lapangan, tes, dan dokumentasi. Data kualitatif dianalisis melalui prosedur reduksi data, penyajian data dan verifikasi. Sedangkan data kuantitatif dianalisis dengan menggunakan statistik rata-rata dan persentase. Hasil penelitian ini adalah terjadinya peningkatan pada pemahaman konsep operasi hitung perkalian setelah digunakannya media kartu bergambar dari siklus 1 ke siklus 2. Hal ini dapat dibuktikan dari peningkatan hasil penilaian pada indikator menyatakan ulang konsep, indikator menerapkan hubungan antara konsep dan prosedur, dan indikator menyajikan konsep dalam berbagai bentuk representasi matematis. This research is motivated by a lack of understanding the concept of multiplication operation in elementary school. This study aims to describe the use of card media to improve understanding of the concept of multiplication operation. Risk if the students still do not understand the concept of multiplication, they will have difficulty in accepting further material and will hamper the delivery of mathematics lesson such as conversion and multiplication. The research method used classroom action research with a research model from Kemmis and Mc. Taggart. This research was conducted in 2 steps, one for each step with the total number of 29 students. Data collection instrument used in this study are observation, field notes, tests, and documentation. Qualitative data were analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and verification procedures. While quantitative data were analyzed using statistical averages and percentages. The results show there are an increasing number of understanding of the concept of multiplication operations after using the pictorial card media from step 1 to step 2. This data can be proven from increasing assessment results in the indicator of restating the concept, the indicator applies the relationship between concepts and procedures, and the indicator presents the concept in various forms of mathematical representations.
