    Abstract

    Kurangnya kemampuan siswa kelas V dalam menggunakan tanda baca yang sesuai dengan Pedoman Umum Ejaan Bahasa Indonesia (PUEBI) dalam menulis karangan melatarbelakangi penelitian ini. Tujuan penelitian ini yakni untuk mendeskripsikan penggunaan tanda baca dalam karangan siswa kelas V sekolah dasar. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif. Tempat dilaksanakannya penelitian ini di SDN Sukarasa Kecamatan Cileunyi Kabupaten Bandung dengan subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas V yang berjumlah 31 orang. Data dalam penelitian ini adalah kesalahan penggunaan tanda baca dengan sumber data yang digunakan adalah karangan yang dibuat oleh siswa kelas V. Berdasarkan hasil analisis 31 karangan, peneliti menarik kesimpulan bahwa kesalahan penggunaan tanda baca terbesar terdapat pada peniadaan tanda titik yang digunakan di akhir kalimat. Faktor penyebabnya adalah ketidaktelitian serta ketidaktahuan siswa dalam menggunakan tanda baca.

    The lack of ability of grade V students in using punctuation in accordance with dengan Pedoman Umum Ejaan Bahasa Indonesia (PUEBI) in writing essays is the background of this research. The purpose of the research is to describe the use of punctuation marks in grade V students essays. This research was conducted using a qualitative method. The place where this research was carried at SDN Sukarasa Kecamatan Cileunyi Kabupaten
    Bandung with the redearch subjects were 31 students in grade V. The data in this research were the misuse of punctuation marks with the source of the data used were essays made by V grade students. Based on the results of the analysis of 31 narrative essays, the researcher draws the conclusion that the biggest misuse of punctuation is in the absence of the period used ath the end of the sentence. The contributing factor is the inaccuracy and ignorance of students in using punctuation marks.
