Abstract
Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian studi kasus. Penelitian studi kasus merupakan penelitian yang berusaha untuk menemukan makna, menyelidiki proses dan memperoleh pengertian dan pemaknaan yang mendalam dari situasi, individu atau kelompok. Penelitian ini dilakukan di daerah Sumedang. Subjek pada penelitian ini merupakan 2 siswa Madrasah Ibtidaiyah kelas V. Masalah yang dikaji pada penelitian ini adalah 1) bagaimana kemampuan siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis; 2) apa saja faktor yang menyebabkan kesulitan belajar dalam menyelesaikan soal kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis, 3) bagaimana upaya mengatasi kesulitan belajar matematika. Untuk menjawab masalah tersebut peneliti menggunakan instrumen penelitian metode observasi langsung, soal tes, dokumentasi dan wawancara. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kedua subjek penelitian termasuk siswa sekolah dasar yang memiliki kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis yang rendah. Rendahnya kemampuan problem solving yang dimiliki siswa disebabkan oleh 2 faktor yaitu faktor yang berasal dari dalam (internal) dan faktor yang berasal dari luar (eksternal)
This research uses qualitative research with the type of case study research. Case study research is research that seeks to find meaning, investigate processes and obtain deep understanding and meaning from situations, individuals or groups. This research was conducted in the Sumedang area, precisely in Babakan Sidaraja Hamlet, Bongkok Village, Paseh District, Sumedang Regency, West Java. The subjects in this study were 2 students of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah grade V. The problems studied in this study were 1) how the students' ability to solve mathematical problem solving abilities; 2) what are the factors that cause learning difficulties in solving problems in solving mathematical problems. To answer this problem the researcher used research instruments using direct observation methods, test questions, documentation and interviews. The results of this study indicate that the two research subjects include elementary school students who have low mathematical problem solving abilities. This result is evidenced by the students' answers in solving the given problem solving abilities (problem solving). The low problem solving ability of students is caused by 2 factors, namely factors that come from within (internal) and factors that come from outside (external).
