Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui sejauhmana peningkatan pemahaman materi ajar dan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa SD dengan menggunakan model experiential learning berbantuan KIT of Science for Kids. Quasi Experiment dengan the matching only pretest and posttest control group design merupakan metode dan desain penelitian yang digunakan. Pembelajaran diselenggarakan pada dua kelas, kelas pertama diberikan pembelajaran dengan menggunakan model experiential learning berbantuan KIT of science for kids dan kelas kedua diberikan pembelajaran dengan menggunakan model tradisional. Pembelajaran yang berlangsung pada kedua kelas, sama-sama berlangsung selama tiga pertemuan. Subjek penelitian di kelas yang diberikan pembelajaran dengan model tradisional berjumlah 22 orang sedangkan di kelas yang diberikan pembelajaran dengan model experiential learning berbantuan KIT of science for kids berjumlah 25 orang. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah instrumen tes untuk pemahaman materi ajar gaya magnet serta keterampilan berpikir kritis. Pengolahan dan teknik analisis data dibantu dengan menggunakan aplikasi SPSS Versi 16. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan pemahaman materi ajar dan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa di kelas yang diberikan pembelajaran dengan model experiential learning berbantuan KIT of science for kids secara signifikan lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan siswa di kelas yang diberikan pembelajaran dengan model tradisional. Dengan demikian, dapat dikatakan bahwa penggunaan model experiential learning dapat mempengaruhi pemahaman materi ajar dan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa. ;---This study aims to determine the extent of improving the understanding of teaching materials and critical thinking skills of elementary students using experiential learning model assisted KIT of Science for Kids. Quasi-Experiment with the matching only pretest and posttest control group design is a research method and design used in this study. The lessons that were held in two classes, in first class is given learning by using KIT of Science for Kids experiential learning model and the second class is given learning using the traditional model. Learning that goes well in the classroom is given lasting for three meetings. The subjects of the study in the classroom were given learning with a traditional model of 22 people while in the classroom given learning with KIT of Science for Kids experiential learning model amounted to 25 people. The research instrument used in this research is the test instrument for the understanding of materials and critical thinking skills. Processing and data analysis techniques assisted by using SPSS Version 16 applications. The result of the research shows that the improvement of understanding material and critical thinking skill of experiment class is higher than the students in the control class. On that basis, it can be said that the use of experiential learning model can affect the understanding of teaching materials and students critical thinking skills.
