Abstract

Penelitian mengenai karakteristik kemandirian peserta didik boarding school bertujuan untuk memperoleh gambaran umum kemandirian peserta didik boarding school, gambaran kemandirian peserta didik boarding school berdasarkan aspek, dan implikasi hasil penelitian bagi layanan bimbingan dan konseling. Latarbelakang penelitian yaitu fenomena yang terjadi di kelas XI MA Daar Al-Ilmi, beberapa peserta didik boarding school belum mampu menentukan pilihan hidupnya sendiri, mudah terpengaruh konformitas, serta rendahnya sikap tanggungjawab terhadap peraturan yang berlaku. Hal tersebut menunjukkan rendahnya kemandirian yang dimiliki peserta didik boarding school dan tidak sesuai dengan asumsi orang tua bahwa boarding school dapat membentuk peserta didik menjadi lebih mandiri. Pendekatan yang digunakan ialah pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode penelitian deskriptif untuk memperoleh gambaran umum terkait kemandirian peserta didik boarding school. Strategi penentuan jumlah sampel menggunakan teknik non probability sampling dengan menggunakan seluruh populasi sebagai sampel berjumlah responden 104 peserta didik. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk mengukur kemandirian peserta didik boarding school dikembangkan oleh Penulis berdasarkan teori kemandirian yang dikemukakan Steinberg. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan mayoritas peserta didik boarding school kelas XI MA Daar Al-Ilmi Kota Serang Banten Tahun Ajaran 2018/2019 berada pada kategori tinggi terkait kemandirian dengan persentase 37,5% (39 orang), 60,6% (63 orang) berada pada kategori sedang, dan 1,92% (2 orang) peserta didik dengan kategori kemandirian yang rendah. Implikasi hasil penelitian berupa rancangan program bimbingan dan konseling pribadi untuk meningkatkan kemandirian peserta didik boarding school yang telah melalui uji kelayakan oleh pakar teori dan praktisi. Rekomendasi bagi penelitian berikutnya yaitu dapat melakukan penelitian dengan metode yang berbeda seperti menggunakan metode komparasi dan menguji efektivitas, dan mengkaji faktor-faktor yang dapat memengaruhi kemandirian peserta didik boarding school.;--The research of the autonomy characteristics of boarding school students aims to obtain a general profile of the autonomy of boarding school students, a profile of the autonomy of boarding school students based on aspects, and the implications of the research results for guidance and counseling. The background of the research is the phenomenon that occurs in class XI MA Daar Al-Ilmi, some boarding school students have not been able to determine their own life choices, are easily influenced by conformity, and have a low attitude towards the applicable regulations. This phenomenon shows the low autonomy of boarding school students and not in accordance with the assumptions of parents that boarding schools can form students become more independent. The research approach used is a quantitative approach with descriptive research methods to obtain a general description of the autonomy of boarding school students. The strategy of determining the number of samples used saturated samples with the number of respondents 104 students. The instrument used to measure the autonomy of boarding school students was developed by the author based on the theory of autonomy put forward by Steinberg. The results showed that the majority of the XI boarding school class students students at MA Daar Al-Ilmi in Serang, Banten, in the 2018/2019 Academic Year were 37,5% (39 people) in high category, 60,6% (63 people) were in the medium category, and 1.92% (2 people) were in low autonomy categoriess. The implications of the results of the research in the form of a design guidance and counseling personal program to increase the autonomy of boarding school students who have gone through feasibility tests by theorists and practitioners. Recommendations for future researchers is they can do research with different methods such as using the comparative method and testing the effectiveness of some techinques to increase the autonomy of boarding school students, and examine the factors that can influence the autonomy of boarding school students.
